No, 12000 more layoffs. WARN only lists of some of them.

Will it be the same numbers and positions mentioned on the WARN website?

Should be on or before Jan 27. Numbers still being finalized.

But the first warning said 30000 not 14000. The second warning was 12000.

I know it is little consolation, but at least you guys get a warning. Other employers give none.

@ah , nice to know your thoughts on "amazon culture"!

I am not in Tech industry, and I applied a job posted in Amazon website, and interview with hiring manage went well. Email received for the next step: loop interview and availability, the recruiter just emailed me saying "this position is no longer available" before I could figure out my availability. lol

when I was in the process of interview, I actually debated myself quite a bit with concern with recent mass layoff and future stability of Amazon. To my surprise the confirmation of the worrying came so quick. I did not feel regret that this "opportunity" vanished. The people are intelligent, yet the culture is not what I am pursuing.

Amazon is doing a few things to innovate their culture:

  • Regular Layoffs
  • PIP / Managing Out / URA
  • RTO, RTT, RTH Silent Layoffs
  • Immediate Termination (without cause)
  • Voluntary Resignation

Ok. So Matt Garmin wants his employees to deliver on time for re:Invent knowing that they will lose their jobs to AI AND get PIP'd out. Ok.

His employees must be so busy interviewing at other companies for remote work that they can't possibly be bothered to deliver on time for re:Invent. Got it!
