Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How do benefits wind down if your severance ends min-year in 2026?

Like, let's say your severance period ends on June 18, '26.

For MEDICAL, I have to have the date of service by before June 18 to count?

For a FLEX ACCOUNT, I assume there's a certain amount that has been funded by that date and then I have to have the expense incurred by that date? And how long do I have to get reimbursment?

For WELLNESS DOLLARS- I just have to do the activities by June 18?

I've found that benefits information / support is lacking for severed employees. The annual enrollment is by phone only (no online apparently) and there's nothing written that describes the specifics for how the final partial-year benefits work. Yeah I'm going to call but some of you have may have some interesting tidbits that my phone call won't uncover.

@eb The arbitrage opportunity through the “uniform coverage rule” for FSAs (not a WF term) is definitely not discussed in the benefits book or the severance SPD pdf. In an extreme case, you could do deductions of $8,750, spend that much in January, quit (or end severance) in early Feb. You’d stiff the co for like $8k and get $8,750 in benefits for $800 (in pre-tax dollars no less). Your only challenge is one of timing and what to spend it on.

@ah

I've been through it. Yes, they are covered in basic benefits information readily available. Even during the notice period. If someone didn't research this before their notice was up then they are just foolish.

@a5 Why patronize? Just venting from another bad day in your corner of the shi++hole? Read OP’s last sentence… who’s lazy again?

@by that’s a very interesting loophole / arbitrage if your severance ends earlier in the year. I thought the benefits enrollment got into some onerous clawback language for this scenario and the like, but maybe in practice it’s a paper tiger.

the flex account was surprising to me. my severance ended in april of 23. i signed up for max deduction for that year. i was able to get reimbursed for all expenses incurred through april even though it exceeded the amount i had put into the account through april. i later found out that was how the plan work. wells fargo offsets the "loss" they took since i received more than i had put in with funds not used by other people

@a5 these questions are actually not covered well at all in your ”binder” LOL

@a5 not everyone's been laid off yet so "the binder" everyone talks about is a mystery. It's not being lazy. We're all wondering the same thing. If you feel like reading before getting hte binder, look at https://teamworks.wellsfargo.com/ or contact HR.

Information on benefits is covered VERY WELL in severance docs. If I did have a questioned the displaced worker support people are excellent.

Don't be lazy.

Medical benefits will run through the end of the month. So, you have until Jen 30 to see your doctor.
