Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

If you want to work for an ethical company, then don’t work for Cisco

The SLT and legal team are experts ant appearing to follow the law while behind the scenes, discriminating on age and other attributes; anything to make the stock price go up. Real business leaders don’t layoff good loyal people during good times. Wake up world to what the Cisco SLT has been doing the drive the stock price up! We need a good class action lawsuit to make things right. Nobody in the world has the resources to stand up to the Cisco machine, but there are plenty of voices out there that want to be heard. While I doubtful that all the people impacted can coordinate a class action lawsuit, one thing I know for sure, is these SLT folks can look at their big bank accounts, but they have to live what they’ve knowingly doing to us!

Well said, @b1+1k6zc141p.

its complicated, mate

While not covering all possible ethics problems, in the US they used to have an ethics policy you had to sign every year. It was continually violated including by those who were responsible for enforcing it so the violations were not just uncorrectable but encouraged by management.

Cisco needs to look into their past lawsuits for so called wrongful dismissal. They "may" have paid out hundreds of thousands for perjury

What's an "ethical" company? What's an "ethical" employee? You trade your time for money...that's all it is. If you want loyalty get a dog.

"We don't want you to talk about [ISSUE] on company time, we're here to provide products" is a very reasonable thing for a company to say and enforce.
The only problem with Cisco is they have been extremely vocal about all kinds of social issues right up until now, when suddenly it becomes all about business.

Exactly zero for-profit companies are 'ethical', and most non-profit companies are also not 'ethical'. Get a grip.

@g3

pledge to withhold your labor, sign the open letter, donate your resignation or dump Cisco stock all in solidarity with Palestine.

I sell my stock right away, so yeah, you could call me an ally.

@OP why r u blaming SLT? Not that they don't have a hand in this BS, but ELT and the board are the real problem around here. Sh-t rolls downhill.

Real business leaders run a business. If employer performance is not in the top 40% then you are exposed plain and simple.
The stock price has been paying off nicely for the top talent.

a company is a soulless entity, devoid of ethics.
Cisco, Microsoft, even companies you think of as "ethical" simply can't be.

whose ethics? which moral framework? a

Cisco employees support many worthy causes. Is that ethical?
Cisco supplies mass surveillance tools to dictatorships. Is that ethical?
Cisco pays for "the best place to work" placement. Is that ethical?
