Anyone have the current headcount? Isn’t the goal to have 80k globally?

55k going into new FY. So down significantly from where we are now. Hearing that doesn’t include contractors just FT. Guessing mostly US and Europe
@be I don't think ELT cares about planning, nor about the future of the company. They are all +55yo and with a net worth that would allow them to be FIRE tomorrow.
They are probably just trying to milk as much as they can, do some clean up to make the company saleable, get a big check and abandon the ship while the sink is not yet so evident.
@ bw
Tech support USA here. After talking with my coworkers and others at Dell, the consensus is clear: this place is toxic. Honestly, it’s close to unanimous, nearly everyone wants out. What makes it worse is that we have no real channel to give feedback to upper management, so there’s no chance for them to correct their course or even acknowledge the ethical problems.
@be same for EMEA, DB will be gone and India OSP will take over
Fed is a clusterf*** Its already happening there
If your US workload is exploding and they can’t be bothered to hire anyone, you already know this clusterfu-k is coming, and it’s going to crush people who actually do the work while management twiddles their thumbs.
The company’s real objective is to move tech support operations to India, but employees aren’t meant to be aware of this. To achieve it, they are laying off US tech support staff, putting employees on PIPs, and applying undue pressure. The approach is unfair and poorly handled, as highly capable employees are being let go, highlighting the company’s low standards. If they stick to schedule, US tech support will be dead by the end of October. Dell is carelessly throwing itself into the middle of geopolitical tensions and rising economic nationalism, and the timing couldn’t be more disastrous. This isn’t just bad planning, it’s reckless.
@ah approximately 8,500 new hires in India since January 1st 2024 and we still dropped total headcount by a lot. Dell us doubling g down on cheap labor from India over tbe next year so the worst is still to come.
Currently at 100,625. Down about 1k from last week.
@ad Net loss was 12,500. So if 7500 were hired (yeah right), then 20,000 were let go.
"correct people with the correct skills in the correct roles"
Stop su-king di-k, they fired the best because they are expensive.
@ad what you're saying is codespeak for Dell is outsourcing its entire workforce to India, so why not just come right out and say it.
People made up that number based on old Bain logic. Fact is, while we let go of 12,500 last year, we hired 7500 and we continue to hire this year as well, while yes, letting others go. It isn't an exercise in straight cuts. Its about having the correct people with the correct skills in the correct roles.
Heard 50,000 was the number
Right now it's around 100K or just below 100K.
However, people are quitting because we got issues with our tools. We are already understaffed and if Dell thinks they can run short on people they are out for a big surprise.
Just over 100k right now, should drop below that soon. Heading to around 95k by end of business year at current rate.
