It really doesn’t matter, we know the company has been doing rolling layoffs for years. Some hit big in certain areas or wipe out whole teams, some are smattering in random departments, others are due to losses of large contracts. It doesn’t matter what date has been leaked or rumored on this site, just be ready if you see a meeting pop onto your calendar with short notice. Whenever it happens, it still feels like a surprise and a punch in the gut.

It does help. I knew the date and planned for vacation. And it was an amazing vacation.
It does matter. That is when I make sure my resume is up to date and start applying for jobs.
Dates matter. If you are within days of a job offer elsewhere, sometimes you can delay the hire date and that way you can collect 50 percent of the severance if you get riffed around the same time. This is just SLT trying to keep people from posting future rif dates on this site.
