Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

This is structural failure

We've been working under a regime of cuts and layoffs for so long, with no follow-through, no plan, that it feels like we've finally hit the breaking point. Not that I care anymore. When your own odds of getting cut in the near future are that high, why buy into the pressure to go above and beyond? I'm done.

@bg Oracle isn't the only company doing this. Human customer support isn't always a great experience either. My experience with customer service lately is I either get stuck in a call tree with options that don't really meet my needs or I get and AI bot that can't figure out what I am asking and then I finally get a human with a heavy accent from a low cost geo and they don't really know what they are doing. Only occasionally do I get a human that I can understand and they know what they are doing. Call tree and AI bots are just cheaper. They aren't going away.

Technology is developing dynamically, but the truth is that customers still choose and will choose a live person as support, not halucinating automations on each step. As for now AI is not rated as trustful, it is more like a d-mb employee that everyone wish to be laid off.

The more employees layoffs and replacing by AI, the more customers outflow.

Keeping for all of you fingers and thumbs to find your great place to work.

@OP sounds like the tech industry isn't for you. Consider a career change. For sure if you get laid off then you will have plenty of time to dedicate to the big pivot.

Money coming in beats money not coming in. That is the harsh reality of employees at our levels. Make sure you don't do things to spite Oracle that come back to bite you. Go through your bills and all this bravado and I don't give a sh-t will get resolved. It does for me. I don't like it but that is life. Plan on how you can get alternative income streams. Market is terrible. I know individuals with skills better than mine who are unemployed 24 months and counting with savings going down daily and stress levels going up. Stress levels through the roof for their spouse and children as well.

Harsh reality check!

OP you might feel like you are done but if you lose your job in today's market that will be the point when you realize that you are done. You should do 2 things to get motivated: 1) prepare for your job search. 2) start executing you job search. You will feel worse when you realize how bad the job market is but you will feel better when you have focus on building a future for yourself while still getting a paycheck from Oracle.
