That would actually be a good reason to RIF you first.
To the poster - ignore these rude comments. People seriously have no heart.
I have witness a person on pregnancy/maternity leave being laid off. However, certain things had to be true: 1-persons role had to be eliminated (if there are coworkers in the similar role I doubt they can let FMLA person go) 2- when the person is impacted the severance of boarding date happened after maternity leave was over (60 days in NYC and 90 days in NJ)
My advice send a note to your HR rep asap to notify you are pregnant. Not sure if there is a legal protection by won’t hurt
there are too many a*holes on this board and at Verizon. It is not about being special, it is about the stress the lady needs to deal with. What goes around, comes around.
What if I'm just fat?!
Of course you can get laid off while pregnant. Anyone can get laid off from a job at any time, and yup, that includes disability.
You can't be laid off BECAUSE you're pregnant or because you're disabled. Layoffs have to be because of reasons other than race, religion, pregnancy, s-x, etc.
What a horrible question. Are you “special”? Bye l o s e r.
Only if you are a man
pregnancy does not protect you from a rif legally. Unless you can prove you were targeted because of your situation, you would have no case in a mass layoff.
Yes it is a misconception that you are protected on FMLA. If the position is eliminated you are let go.
Go out on disability now. They can't rif you while you're out on disability.
@a3
I dont care who ya are..that's damn funny right there..
Wait..that depends! Do you identify as male or female?
I’ve seen people come back from maternity and get riffed.
Yes
