Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Imperial Selection Councils now in place

Council Chairs established and members nominated. Mobility surveys have not closed yet but ppl have already started disappearing from QP (most are involuntary). Staffing & selection process is on by first week of November and we all know how this game works - similar to how PADP is run in this company, rife with politics. Good luck to those who wants to remain employed!

@ag the scenario you just described just might play out. All in all, no one is safe unless you are (1) below 40 (2) willing to relocate anywhere (3) sponsored. Bonus points if you are single as relocation costs are cheaper.

@ag In Canada you can't be PIP out without severance.

I think mid-performer people may actually get more sc--wed out of this….
If the staffing councils select lower performers for separation based on last 3 years of performance, and those people are offered severance and out of scope for June 2026 assessment…. Then PDS in June is going to be mid- to -top performers who survived the first round. So then if a mid-performer suddenly gets dropped to NSI in June then they would be PIP’ed out without severance?! This is going to be ruthless, Hunger Games indeed. Would almost be better to lock in termination/ severance now.

Some of the mid level management role will certainly disappear, question is whether these ppl will be chosen to perform IC roles, and in-turn bump out ppl already doing those roles.
