Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

RTO

rumor has it that we will go to 4 days in office starting in June. Can anyone confirm this ? Sounds like there are groups that already switched to 4 days in office.

I love being on the office and interacting with people, innovating, automating, reducing headcount where it’s not needed by not back filling. We are overstaffed and under challenged, I’ve never worked somewhere where it’s so easily to look good. People are so entitled !

@aq, Yes indeed, you should be happy that you have a job, not complaining like a child about having to come in and actually do and keeping normal work hours, assuming that you do have one. Layoffs at CVX and similar places have been happening for years, are not new and you knew that coming in. You can keep pouting and spouting profanities all that you want but it won't change those simple facts.

In order to "increase collaboration" and "build skillsets" to "further develop our workforce", I recommend the field workers come into the office during their days off to learn the other side of things. It will be great for them and can fill in some gaps that are sure to form from the layoffs.

It’s amazing how a certain generation of people think they’re owed or entitled to a job, owed or entitled to a WFH situation, owed a particular title and/or owed a certain salary just because ..why? They went to college or their relative got them their job? To the guy who’s whining about being told that working in the office would forever be 3 days a week…The situation has changed. Just like the employment situation has changed. Life changes. Pivot and evolve.

@an+1 how about instead you fu-k yourself, respectfully? We're in the middle of being outsourced to another continent, and you're here telling workers they should be glad they're coming into the office. Get out of here man.

So they are requiring us to show up and work for the job that we are being paid to do, and most work schedules since the beginning of record keeping, are 5 days a week, some more, and we were all overly elated and overjoyed with enthusiasm when were were allowed to work 4 tens or the 9-80 in the past. Then came Covid and they made babies and older folks stay home to be protected and everyone else followed suit.
Now what are we complaining about here today? To HAVE to come in 4 days????? WTF?
Seems like some want to be little coddled spoiled brat babies forever.

By June 1, there will be enough seats in the office for everyone to be in office 4 days a week. Some groups already have in-person meetings on Fridays too.

You do realize there are lots of groups that already did their round of layoffs in anticipation of this one right ? Sorry bro but we were told today no changes to our org through 2025. Hope you get laid off.

It’s very presumptuous of YOU to assume your group won’t be impacted by first round layoffs. As soon as your coworkers or manager hear you b1tch1ing about RTO, you’ll be first in your group to go.

To @a9+1jm0ybv78

I was hired with the promise that we would be 3 days a week forever. Very presumptuous of you to assume that I don’t show up to work. Good thing my group is not impacted by layoffs through 2025 so yes, I may just take an EOI because the commute is terrible, but it won’t be for your sorry a-s sake.

"HOLY "F" just show up for work, like most everyone else in the world. You new employees are WEAK. I really hope most you take an AEOI, or are left standing and let the REAL MEN and WOMEN keep their jobs."

Stop with the pearl clutching. We already have a hybrid schedule where employees are required to come in to the office for 3 days a week.

My June I can guarantee I’ll be “No Days” a week in the office

Not sure which group you are in but I am in HR and downstream is expected to be in the office or field 5 days a week effective now.

Who cares! Would you sacrifice your job if you had to come in 4 or even 5 days a week? I certainly wouldn’t.

Some groups requiring everyone to come in 4 days a week regardless of PSG.

That makes sense. I bet a lot more people will do EOI in second round if they mandate 4 days a week starting in June 2025.

There was an announcement that it was 4 days per week for psg 26 and up starting in June. Wouldn’t be surprised if new job offer letters include this language. If you make it 5 days per week i bet that will really increase EOI takers.

26 and above yes. All others 3 days minimum from June but mostly that could be 4 from 2026.
