Mind your business. Some people are productive in different ways. I do 80% of my work on Monday so I can do the bare minimum the rest of the week.

I have times where I can’t do much because I have a headache so I don’t do anything that involves much thinking. I join the perfunctory calls, skip the optional ones, and browse the internet. Today is one of those days.
Although I don't agree with playing games while your being paid to do a job, I do understand the why people get to that point. They realize that they don't matter as much as they thought they did. That years of hardwork and dedication to a company, whose goal is to replace them with cheap overseas labor or AI, us all for nothing. They are or were, working towards a future and career that they know can be ripped from them in a blink of an eye. And when they do, they're not sorry, it's business.
I bring my personal laptop, work my side hustle and catch up on various shows. My manager 💯 knows I have no work and hasn't given me anything, so I'll play the game.

I am a shareholder, this is bad!
Single handedly created and maintained a program that saved the company 10+ million dollars over the last 3 years from horrible decisions/processes they had in place. Now the program was disbanded and no longer functioning due to the layoff based solely on me living in the wrong place after 18 years of employment. But sure keep telling yourself and proclaiming they are only going after people that aren't working with these mass layoffs and I am sure you will totally be protected!!
@af your hard work will not save you. In Charlie's eyes there's absolutely no difference between you and your peers, if you're not in India,the eye of Sauron will eventually turn in your direction. But keep telling yourself otherwise

This is nothing, see folks sleeping in CIC all the time. Not just one-offs but many.
@ab if people had been working hard the last few years instead of coffee badging, producing very little tangible work, and yes playing solitaire there would absolutely be fewer layoffs. However WF has declared war on the mostly irrelevant and definitely underworked corporate types who seem to consider sitting around doing very little most of the time to be a birthright. Sorry your gravy train is leaving you behind but the days you long to see return are gone forever, at least at WF.
In the meantime continue doing you because words already out that there are way more people like you on the payroll than WF actually needs.

@a5 They keep happening because WF is committed to laying off its workforce to meet it's earnings expectations regardless of employee contributions.
Literally, CS has loosely stated this multiple times in news interviews.
