Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Its 2 person per team layoff

If managers are asked for list, its usually 2 person per team layoff in Oracle. If you are not in your manager's list then you will be the one.

@b9 "Last round Outstanding/Exceeds were removed while non-productive useless dead weight survived due to politics."

Nope. They were probably more highly paid. The company is looking to save money, so the higher your salary, the greater your risk of being cut. If roles aren't eliminated, the managers are probably being told to provide names of their most highly paid employees.

@bq It isn't that hard. Just put yourself in LE's shoes for sometime and solve this problem. You need to get rid of howmuch ever percentage of staff in your company, staff that are dispersed globally and structured hierarchically. How would you do it?

@bb you lost me when you said "think about it ". Think what? Have you been here long enough ? There is no thinking when it comes to layoffs. Everyone is saving themselves. Nobody cares of their team

I will believe it when I see it happen. Until then, it is business as usual for me. I also find it hard to believe that anyone lower than SVP (if that) would have visibility into who is going to be RIF'd. It's all centralised, based on Cost Center, legal and HR only. Think about it. If they left it at the hands of a Director, such news would leak pretty quickly and the organisation would be vulnerable to lawsuits.I also don't believe that management folks survive due to office politics or because they know someone. Think about this too - Say you are LE, how would you go about restructuring your company without drawing too much attention legally. Would you trust the people at Director level to take decisions on your behalf? Globally? People who have no idea about local labour laws? Would you give a freehand to some VP to pick and choose which of his management they want to retain?

@a8 Exactly, don't think your M2s have any clue on this either. Maybe at Director level or VP level. Last round Outstanding/Exceeds were removed while non-productive useless dead weight survived due to politics. So don't try to make sense of decisions based on work performance. It is pure politics and all non-work related criteria.

Seems @aa already answered these questions.

20% of 166000 is approx 33000 RIFed

A bloodbath.

@aa Is there currently anyway we can check OIM now and confirm we're one of them or not?

@aa please explain what you mean what you mean by this lockout is different? I thought access was immediately revoked at the end of one's "Business Update" call? Fully expect to be on the list.

RIF is before Tuesday. Lockouts will rollout starting Monday. OIM database is already enqueued with revocation of access. I work in the team that managers OIM and can see the thousands of records already enqueued. It’s going to be a lot. They didn’t do these lockouts like this in September, I guess they want damage control.

@a1 2 per 12 people on average. Which is about a 20% reduction

@OP I have seen whole teams RIF in the past. There is never any logic or pattern to who gets RIF. Stop causing more stress. It is going to be what it will be. None of us can change it at this point. I just wish an executive with knowledge would step up and confirm when D-Day is.

When you say 2 person per team, what's a ''team'' in this case? 2 managers org? followed by 2 people under each manager, and so on and so on? Each M2 that has 12-14 people under them, will lose 2 people?
