Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If you start feeling sick, you can't leave until 8 hours

My manager informed us that you will be penalized for taking PTO halfway through the day and leaving early since it will count as a day in office where you spent less than 8 hours.

This company really needs to get its act together and send out official information about this tracking. Nobody knows what the he-l is going on

PTO. Paid Time Off. that’s what it’s for. Use it if you’re sick. Easy.

Unionizing sounds like the only feasible approach. Else, depart and lose pay.

Let’s overwhelm all of the managers with emails for every time we have a doctors appointment, feel sick, or have to go home to meet a contractor…next year when my area goes to 4 days a week in office it’s not like we will have much choice to schedule things on the one day a week at home. The pettiness is out of control so let’s overwhelm them with petty details.

"managers have discretion"...for NOW. It won't last. It's kind of like when RTO started and they encouraged people to site wherever they want. It was just to get people conditioned to coming to the S hole office. Next thing you know they demand that you sit in a specific building and area within that building, but won't assign you anything. Don't count on your manager having much discretion for long. They will make that as painful as possible so managers simply don't want to deal with it anymore. That way, executives can claim there is flexibility when there really isn't on a practical level.

managers have discretion. leaving early everyone once in a while because you or your kid is sick won't be an issue. just document it via email with your manager. if you get flagged on a report then you have that as evidence. It's not rocket science.

@bp This is not true. You're probably thinking of the 3 days report. They've confirmed the 8 hour report is unaffected by PTO. Coming in 4 hours and taking 4 hours PTO will get you in trouble for bringing your in-office average below 8 hours

Even simpler solution. Use Teladoc app on your smart phone and bill your AU. The company is looking out for your best interest. Happy and healthy employees are good for business. Don’t leave and go home.

@OP
It is simple. Just take half day PTO.

Once you are approved for a 4 hour PTO (half day) - your coming to office or not is irrelevant.

Automatically, the system treats it as an off day.

But you must take half day PTO - that is the only catch.

What about having to leave for a sick kid?! First year of daycare is brutal.

managers have discretion. if you are actually sick and leave early hopefully your manager will give you a pass

And youre probably one of the people who are always "getting sick" and needing to leave early. Most people may get sick once or twice a year, so this isnt a major concern. Its the deadbeats who are perpetually sick, but never sick enough to actually use PTO, who spend any time whatsoever worrying about something as irrelevant as this is for most people.

I was also told this about PTO usage, but you should be able to document that you started feeling sick if HR ever reaches out to complain. Get it all in emails for evidence
