Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Who else?

Gail has absolutely ran us into the ground. I think her contract is up in 2026 though, I recall reading that somewhere.

If this is true, who would you put in charge? Who could do better, from the current ELT? I honestly don't see anybody who could take over and fix things.

@az+1jt13bntt I'm glad you hear positive feedback from members. I've been a member of this company's health plans for over 20 years and it would take me DAYS of talking nonstop to tell you all of the ways they've impeded my family's access to the healthcare our doctors recommended. I've spent so much time fighting to get coverage for COVERED SERVICES that if I had a dollar for every minute I spent on it, I wouldn't be here looking at the layoff site. I'd be retired. I have hours of issues I could tell you about from just this year and it's only April. I'm glad you're proud to work here. That's great for you but from my perspective, they treat the employees AND the members AND the providers like cr-p.

I agree with your comments. This board has a lot of unhappy people hiding behind their keyboard and spewing toxic hate.
I also like what I do. I’m worried about layoffs and want to keep my job. For the prior employees who come in here good riddance. Go find another place to troll. How sad are you that you need to keep coming to this board. A lot of us just want to find information about the current situation yet we have past employees with obviously nothing better in their lives to do but post here. Go find a new employer to spread your cheer.

I’m disappointed by the tone of some of the comments here. I came looking for information about future layoffs but instead found negativity and personal attacks. As someone who works directly with our members, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of our care, and I regularly receive messages of appreciation. I’m proud to be part of Elevance and believe our leadership is doing a solid job, especially given the complexities of the industry. Criticizing individuals without understanding the full picture doesn’t reflect well on anyone and doesn't contribute to a productive dialogue. I remain hopeful about continuing my journey with Elevance and contributing to our mission.

This is fun but who cares. Can we get back to what area might see layoffs?
Anybody hearing anything about Carelon?

Who could do better? Did you write "WHO COULD DO BETTER"?!?!? Current ELT has nobody who can do better because they're all mindless a$$-kissing drones.
Outside the ELT, though (I just thought I'd have some fun, here):
A mentally challenged monkey with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's could do better.
A wet bag of rocks could do better.
Coma patients could do better.
Shall I continue, or does everyone take my point?

Weird how nepotism and diversity hires don't translate into business outcomes.

Elevance is trash and chostic. I mean look at Staff VP’s the incompetence is wild. Either too involved rubbing noses with SLT to support actual staff members working with contracts and vendors outside their own scope (look at PI’s CCA Staff VP) or don’t know a lick and lean on directors to take charge.

This company has become a joke.
Bunch of clowns in SLT

Hate to break it to you, @af+1jt13bntt , but 200KPL is considered a dum--ss and a laughing stock amongst their peers. Then again, maybe that would qualify them for the SLT!

@ad+1jt13bntt Ha!!! Facts are facts, sure. Revenues are up. If you are going to measure the success of a company on revenues alone, I'm not sure what else to say.

Most health insurance companies have increased revenues over the same time frame. A lot of Fortune ### companies have increased revenues over the same time frame.

Does this simply mean the companies are being run as efficiently and effectively as they can? I think associates would disagree. Even many members would disagree. The only people benefitting from this are the SLT and the shareholders. Those parties always take precedence over associates and members. Facts are facts!

@ab+1jt13bntt I would agree, at first, that Gail did elevate Anthem down a good road. Joe S. did the same when he was brought in from the outside.

However, all of the great elevating has essentially been reversed by her and incompetent leadership. If she gets credit for the good times, she certainly deserves blame for the bad times.

A change is desperately needed.

Gail is not that bad. Why blame her for everything? She had elevated Anthem to much greater heights at one point.

Can’t believe this was downvoted because it’s 100 per cent truth. She’s been a disaster

I really wish Elevance would stop playing copycat with United and the rest of corporate America. Like, we get it—CTRL+C and CTRL+V are your favorite tools.

And I hate to throw around generational shade (we’ll all be boomers one day if we’re lucky), but this leadership team feels like it’s running the company via fax machine.

Just imagine if Elevance actually tried something new. We could be ahead of the curve, leading innovation, maybe even become a “cool” place to work—dare I say, the Beyoncé of health care. But nope… we’re still out here doing karaoke covers of strategies from 2004.
