Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You have to experience it to believe it

Parking is a mess
Finding a spot to work and sit is a mess.
Having any quiet to get work done, forget it
I see some people on edge.
The place is a ticking time bo-b on top of a warehouse of powder kegs.
You can create these types of conditions and expect productivity all under the cloud of big brother is watching.
I wouldn't want to be in the office where someone loses it completely.

So far RTO is working. People are starting to break. They should be quitting soon and may save Q3 surplus.

It looks like we are working in Stankey’s sweatshop. The conditions in the buildings are unbearable.

Thinking abt STD? Even if you get a Doctor to complete all your paperwork (remember they charge for this & it's out of pocket), your case still may not be approved. Sedgwick has their own Doctors who review each STD physician's "request", so it may not be granted. You can always appeal, but it's a long and costly process for you (think additional Specialists you pay to support your appeal). Sedgwick is a private company that employers, like T, use to 'manage' their STD claims to minimize expenses. I was an L2 in HR for 3 years who worked with Sedgwick to find and reduce fraud. One common reason for term was when an ee travelled outside their state (usually on vacation) which is against STD rules. There is no free lunch!

“Whoa is me. Working in an office. I did 20 years before the C.virus. Why is this any different.”

Wow looks like you’ve clearly never lived through COVID cause if you did then you would know that the world has changed and efficiency and hybrid are the future, not spending 10+ hours in traffic a week and barely having more than an hour or two to yourself literally almost everyday.

I felt like I was going to lose it today. Noticed at least 2 others that appeared to be on the brink.

“It’s more a matter of entitlement correction currently taking place.”

Well then Jeremy Legg is going to be one pi---d off dude. A great deal of time and energy was spent on DEI guilt hiring at T for ATS. There are a lot of entitled new hires that have come aboard replacing the 45+ year old laid off T workers that had their jobs moved out of state as part of wave 1, 2 and 3. You think the DEI hires are going to be happy with 5x8 RTO? Im gonna laugh my a-s off when just one DEI hire has to sit on the floor and has a rosa parks moment and sues T at the drop of a hat. T is so damn D-MB. Live by the DEI sword, you SWALLOW the DEI sword.

They actually did reduce the # of floors we could use and THEN said RTO 5 days. RTO I can live with, but not having the proper space or tools to do my job is third world nonsense. Welcome to communist America.

Now everyone has an excuse for short-term disability. Go to your doctor and tell them that returning to the office has increased your stress level, you have high blood pressure, and chest pain from time to time, and anxiety. That will get you at least 4 weeks off from returning to office issues. And perhaps you can even stretch it to 12 weeks if you're lucky. Just continue telling your doctor you're not ready to go into the stressful environment.

Are you people really AT&T managers? I see juvenile messages on here. Birdflu. New virus in China, person gets ki-led driving to work, and working full time taking care of a parent. None of these are AT&Ts issues.

Well we always had a somewhat private cubicle or office and we're never monitored by big brother who is looking to send bodies off to the wood chipper. As this process of elimination progresses the bottom of the barrel continues to become a greater and greater percentage of the overall barrel while the cream is leaving the barrel. Layer on family stress and unfunded relocations along with insane commutes and the stage is being set for people to absolutely snap.

“ Why is this any different.”

Because of the true reason & purpose behind it…to thin the herd (sans severance pay). The Machiavellian d1rtb@lls who SHOULD get the boot are the ones who caused this mess…AND are still calling the sh0ts!

This is the new culture.

Hunting for a place to sit every single day.

Musical chairs.
