Handling a lack of support

My manager sided with a rude customer today, even though he knew I followed all the correct procedures. He then expected me to just forget the whole interaction happened. It is incredibly discouraging and makes the job feel impossible. I am considering how to document this pattern for a discussion with HR next week. Has anyone dealt with a similar failure of leadership?

@aeh : You’re absolutely correct. Going to HR will only unleash a bunch of BS from store leadership and team leadership. They’ll find a way to flip the script and create a scenario in which you become the problem person and then attempt to gaslight you. Don’t fall for it or feel trapped by it As someone who went through this recently after a long career with WFM, I’m here to say leave if this happens and move on with your life. A change of scenery will help. I’m mostly over the experience I had at the end of my time at WFM and am thankful for some great team members I met along the way.

DO NOT GO TO HR !! WHAT? they will try their hardest to find fault in whatever concern you bring them! They will tell your TL/manager EXACTLY what you told them. You will be gas lit by management to feel as though your the problem. THEN you will be demoralized and outcasted for speaking out. Trash company. Trash morals. Trash management. If you’re a good worker with a honest and good heart, Please try and get out. It only gets worse. Save yourself the mental abuse.

TLDR: management and hr are on the same side.

"Leadership" will throw you under the bus every chance they get. They only care about themselves and their favorites. Get out! Let them and their favorites finally do some work.

Yes. Some store leaders miss the concept of customer service. They too afraid. We are not slaves, they are there to protect TMs if customers cross the line. Depends on the incident. But proud of you willing to speak up. Not that many TMs will do it. Just get your resume ready. STL will do the impossible to get you fired after this. So after this document everything that you might think stl think you did wrong.
