Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Move union threads to a different session

Can the Mods create a separate thread or link for the Union folks? Just like VzW has its own...since these folks started posting here, we lost the fundamental topcs....

No. It is a tradition since the first days of this site when the masters of business first preached that the union's end was nigh. I believe 2006 or so.

@f0

we're = we are
were = past tense of are. Since you used knew, this would be proper.

The Right Wing propandists want to divide us. All union and non-workers need to band together and give management the middle finger.

@bv
I was never a fan of unions but this is a huge wake up
The red shirts make sense now- it's honoring their Marxist roots
I will never look at them without thinking about this

These soon to be gone wireless folk have been moaning about the union talk for ages on this site. It has been near 15 years they have talked how the union was done. A separate thread was created for them and it sees near no traffic compared to this.
Use that thread if it bothers you so much or don't read this one if it is so troubling.
Every contract for near 20 years we discuss our issues here and will continue to do so until we take our pensions ir the site shuts down like the "Joe Schmuck" site did years ago. The union isn't going anywhere. You are.

@c0 If you watch TV, idolize actors and wear a jersey with another mans name on your back, you're feeding the globo-humo system. What's the difference when nobody is innocent? I don't watch tv and don't wear somebody else's last name on my back, but have been paying dues for some time now for a hopeful 500k buyout at the end. Seems the same to me, just that one "wrong" has more benefit.

I hope they cut a ton of middle managers. We do the heavy lifting and they reap most of the rewards, while we get the crumbs.

@bf you call yourself whatever makes you feel better but the reality is- you took the job, you pay the dues, you feed the organization, You know what that makes you. You are the problem.

Exactly why moan about some talk every few years about whatever gains we get or how much a buyout will be or when? Once our deal gets ratified the place will be free to be taken back into the realm of discussions regarding RIFs and retail closures etc.

@ba Funny that you think just because one works a union job that they are a co-mie. That's like calling somebody a Christian just because they go to church on Sundays.

It's called being an opportunist.

You think that you are an opportunist, but you're failing miserably by coming on this forum and throwing po-p. You probably eat po-p. Po-p eater..

@OP Quit whining, we're only here every four or so years to talk about contractual stuff. There was a Joe Schmucks forum years ago but this us all we have now. We'll be gone for another 4 years after ratification. You guys can get back to talking about RIF's and stupid sales vp's are after that..

Instead of banding together with the unions, the non-union backstabbers are always getting the short end of the stick because they're always on the wrong side of history.

Even third party is too good for the thieves. Boycott them and use the website for sales. Let them rot with all the other scammers.

@at We live in a society of free will. Many mock the union and choose not to be members or support them. Whatever bed they make for themselves they only have themselves to thank for. It would be great if the majority of workers were in a union it would be easier for all workers involved, but alas that is not the case. One must look out for their own group not a disparate mix of non members who often undermine the cause. The wireless people in particular have been a group of reprobates from when we first created it. Finally they will shed and go off to the land of the unrepresented world of 3rd party employment. Good riddance to them. They can stew in the cesspool of that way of life.

If union cannot be laid off, why would they even bother with a layoff site? Think about that for a second and recognize it all impacts us workers. If unions truly care about people, then you have to care about the whole environment - not just what impacts or doesn't impact the union. Newsflash, what happens to management is a road sign of what happens to the union personnel and vis versa.

There is only one company and yes the newer members can be laid off. Stop with the divisive posts. The fact that you are not aware that union members can be laid off says a lot about OP being misinformed.

Obviously union members needn't fear layoffs,but layoffs do have impact on the workplace and 401k values etc. No new forum needed.
