Bad enough after 30 years to get kicked to the curb as a high performer, but now they are starting to remove people from the Slack groups. Just another reminder of you are just a number. Couldn't wait until everyone is off the payroll, just keep ripping off the band aid again and again.

No slackers were harmed in the making of this layoff.
What was an insult was being invited to the org All Hands Celebration on Dec 17. Yes, two day before thousands of employees will be off the books, at least one org has decided that it would be a great time to have a "Celebration" call with everybody.
When I realized all of my access other than basic employee stuff that everyone has, I was upset. The courteous thing to do would've been to let me know it was being removed. Then I realized it is in my best interest to have no access - that way, I cannot be accused of any malicious action since I have no access.
@a6
The OP to that thread you copied has to be soooooooo embarrassed
Glad it’s not just me. Yes, I was removed from over 10 Slack groups, including the ones we use to reach out to different teams for issues on different parts of the network, were all taken away. I am essentially limited to direct messages and whatever channels are not private. I hope they don’t expect any work to get done.
I remember that happening to team mates that were RIFFed in the past - if I'm remembering correctly, my Director at the time told me it was due to not wanting those leaving to be taking up time from former team mates who stayed on.
@aa what??? I want you to get rid of your Verizon swag? Seriously? That’s so weird.
@a4 yup focus should be on yourself, don't dictate to others how they should feel
Teams are likely deleting you out of sensitivity, not the way you are taking it. They probably don't want to make future plans on how they will absorb work in the virtual face of the person/people that are impacted.
Short of any networking or final goodbyes, you have little reason to bother with Slack or anything else other than starting your job search.
@a6 the original post was a huge TLDR but the replies were hilarious!!!! To op repeatedly self replying glowing reviews! And the lady ripping on op about his huge, pulsating brain! Also the voting/spanking reply... All had me in stitches!!!!
Thanks for sharing.... I can't remember the last time I laughed this hard!!!
@ag that was very stupid thing to ask 🙄
When I got RIF'ed, on my last day on payroll, my boss wanted me to come to the team meeting and say a few words. Not only did I say NO. I said F - NO!
Forget about slack and your calendar. Look for a new job and start the Verizon Detox.
@ae ask your boss then to get more clarity
@a8 Not in my group. We have not been communicated to about anything. Its bizarre, a lot of mixed messages..
They actually already sent a notice that I’m losing my wireless discount soon .Crazy they really mean business.I also was told that we are supposed to either turn in or discard any Verizon merchandise and clothing upon separation.Wow Vteam family no more
@OP why are you even opening slack? The company asked the impacted people they are not expected to work and focus on their career transition
Here's something I came across earlier posted on the site that I found helpful.

Wishing you well with your search!
@OP why would you care about this? Your focus right now should be on finding a new job not worrying about what's going on at Vz.
Agree - my calendar was wipe out yesterday. Not that I was planning to attend anymore - 😝but I got the message. They did me a favor actually
