Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Time to Unionize

It’s been a long time coming, and the truth is simple: we need to unionize. The 1% at the top continue cashing in while we absorb the fallout of plans they designed and failed to execute. They walk away with bonuses; we get scraps and a pat on the back for “unused vacation.” That imbalance ends when we stand together.

You’ll start hearing more very soon. This will be the last RIF we face without real representation and a collective voice that can’t be ignored. Leadership only “listens” when numbers look good. The moment things slip, they point the finger at us.

We deserve protection, respect, and a seat at the table. It’s time to claim it.

@r4 This is a bunch of union busting HRBP in here that several page response is to have you be distracted by the truth... unionize and things will be better. You notice how our insruance got worse and more expensive. I would rather offset that paying the 50.00 a paycheck then having no say in the matter.

@zp you know leadership has quartly union trainings to bust unions and listen to key words and are REQUIRED to tell HR soon as they hear it? Like any HRBP in any of the trainings have asked we call them in the middle of the night... why do you think they are so scared? Don't let this propaganda scare you join a union its your right and if they retailiate you will be sitting well financially. specifically make a post take a screenshot with the date anything after.... case shut and closed.

Oh, Another Union Siren Song: The "Truth" About Collective Complaining 🙄
Ah, the familiar battle cry! "We need to unionize!" How utterly original. I see someone has recently discovered the dramatic potential of a picket sign and the alluring myth of the "collective voice."
Let's address this "simple truth" with some actual simple truth, shall we?
💰 The 1% vs. The Mythical Scraps
You complain that the "1% at the top" are cashing in while you get "scraps." Here's the satirical truth:
The Bonus Fallout: You think the executives' failed plans are the reason for your stress? Honey, the real fallout is the union dues you'll be happily paying, whether the "collective voice" achieves anything or not. You're voluntarily trading management's "scraps" for the union boss's guaranteed paycheck.
The "Unused Vacation" Rant: That "pat on the back" for unused vacation is called a job that needs you. But don't worry, once you unionize, you might be able to collectively bargain for the right to grieve the fact that you're too busy with mandatory meetings and voting procedures to take a holiday. Much better!
📢 The Siren Song of "Real Representation"
You proclaim this will be the "last RIF [Reduction In Force] we face without real representation." This is where the satire meets a cold splash of reality:
Protection? You want protection? Unions often protect the worst performers with rigid seniority rules and cumbersome dismissal processes. So, instead of a meritocracy, you get a system where the dead weight stays put, ensuring that the company's "numbers" (the very ones you say leadership only listens to) continue to "slip." Guess who pays for that slip? You do, in lost productivity and eventually, yes, more RIFs or just a slow death for the company.
A Collective Voice That Can't Be Ignored? It can be ignored, especially when that voice demands unsustainable wages or work rules that make the business uncompetitive. Then, leadership really listens... by moving the whole operation somewhere cheaper.
👑 Claiming Your "Seat at the Table"
You "deserve protection, respect, and a seat at the table."
In reality, joining a union means you don't get a seat; you get one vote in who gets the seat. You replace the current management you hate with a new, equally distant, and often less transparent management structure: the union hierarchy.
So, go ahead and stand together! Just remember: the only thing you're guaranteed to stand for is the monthly deduction from your own paycheck. Enjoy the solidarity!
Would you like me to find some current events about labor strikes and their impacts on workers and consumers?

Sadly the union is likely the only thing to save jobs at this point since the bargaining will create stability for the length of the contract. I would be much more productive if I knew I had a job going forward vs the same toxic possible breakup every few months.

Read a Verizon Union Contract and educate yourself! The union cannot protect against business restructuring, store closures or layoffs. They’re there to collect money and promise things they can’t deliver on. I don’t need someone to bargain on my benefits while we’ve already got the best. The union has done nothing for those stores that already exist.

How many associates getting chopped in these layoffs? ZERO only those of us "at will"/ Mgmt employees. I'm down to Join the Union Train! We didn't cause these issues, MGMT did and they're doing just Fine $$$$

all the union will do is collect dues and let you get RIF'd

Unions don’t protect against RIF’s! Stop trying to pray on people who are concerned about losing their jobs.
