Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Why didn’t the diversity team face layoffs?

They were the driving force who made such a mess of target.
How is this group helping us generate more revenue?
Do minorities even care?
Why are white women leading this group?

@ae lol this is not true at all. They wanted target to be who they “said” they were. People believed them and preferred them because of it — not everyone — but clearly SOME people. Now they’ve found a replacement or a reason to not go. Other retailers getting better and we’re locking up more product, dont have it in stock etc. Fine I’ll just go to Amazon/Ulta/Sephora/ local grocer/ wherever

DEI was rebranded to Belonging. Belonging is a ridiculous name because many folks don’t “belong” to target any more bc of them. It wasn’t touched like @Op mentioned. I have never understood why there is a VP who flies around (bringing her family on the do
Pant dime) to take photos with groups doing volunteer work.

Wow. People heard that Target was "rolling back" some DEI initiatives and then just assume Target isn't spending millions per year on DEI still. KF likely earns total compensation of $3–$7 million annually, including base salary (~$500,000–$800,000), bonuses, and equity, based on similar roles in 2024 proxy data. Also, Industry benchmarks suggest DEI teams at large retailers number 50–200 staff; assuming an average salary of $150,000 (including benefits), this implies $7.5–$30 million in annual payroll alone. So Target is likely spending this range on DEI annually. If they could've gotten that message to the public, they may have been able to blunt the boycott from the pro-DEI group. But if you work at Target and believe there is no DEI happening, you're in a bubble of misinformation.

The diversity team just changed their name to community impact or something like that and none of them were touched by layoffs. Such BS

@ap foot traffic is down because our stores are shambles. like the Kmart of the 90s. Disheveled shelves, out of stocks, clothing in disarray. When I do store drive-up pick up, half my produce is garbage or spoiled. Avocados are rock hard and ready to eat after 5 more days in a paper bag. bananas are bruised, oranges dehydrated, broccoli/cauliflower browning and lettuce wilting. and so on. Customer service su-ks, can't find any help. Takes forever to clear a mistake in self-checkout. Target wants to fix their image, they need to fix their stores.

@an last I checked it was white men who donate heavily to Trump running this place. Do you even work here?

@ae where the fu-k have you been? Look outside of your rock - Target hasn’t even pretended to have DEI since the orange tu-d got in office. Frankly it’s what’s ki-led us, conservative boycotts didn’t do sh-t. Liberals decided to boycott over DEI and now our foot traffic is down.

Considering the diversity team doesn’t exist anymore this seems a little misplaced.

Apparently Target hasn’t learned a lesson yet. Pushing DEI is not what customers want. Customers want lower prices on good products. Target’s decline will continue until it changes course and rejects DEI.
