Chevron is so far away from implementing AI it is ridicules.
We cannot implement simple workflow improvements with the new software services we are implementing and the software companies have already implemented the workflows at other companies... It takes more than low paid software jockeys from India to implement improvements in the workflows.

@dh, what industry pays enough to start and raise a family in today's environment and save for a decent retirement in the USA for a STEM type person with an engineering degree?

Difficult decision? No way, it was easy to lay you all off for cheaper labor. No difficulty at all. You're all as worthless as me

@er The number of jobs CVX is moving overseas is so small that you’d need either the James Webb or Hubble telescope to see them. No politician (note neither JDV or DJT are “leaders”) cares about this issue.

The VP of the USA (JD V) just called out Microsoft for laying off thousands of people and replacing them with H1’s and offshore. Maybe someone should let him know that Chevron is replacing its US talent with our cheap overseas chop choo Engine. #AmericaFirst

I have been laid off 9 times in my 40 year career in oil and gas. My advice to young graduates is to stay away from this industry and this company if you want a stable environment for your family. Being laid off every time there is an administration change in Washington that puts their bulls eye sight on oil and gas is no way to live

@a3 Chevroid just don't get CVX is not special
CVX is management by fear. But some swallow the propogranda.

  • from now on layoffs 2 years.
  • when elt decides to abandon northern California including down stream in (can't say), plus shift to AI you will not be needed. Just need a handful of data engineers.

@a9 Downtown Houston Chevron employees (excluding Hess Tower) are covered under the March filing with the Texas Workforce Commission that covers involuntary layoffs until the end of 2025.
