Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Why so many PM's

What an overly saturated work title this has become! What is the purpose of this work? Shouldn't you at least have to know the product and have some inkling of knowledge about the project you are managing to hold such a title?

My thoughts after a few years of working with them: A PM title is the equivalent to an Adult Participation Trophy....what a joke

"This was inevitable, it's a shame all your negativity clouded your vision because you all could have joined in on this. Lumen with its incredible infrastructure at $1 with ex-MSFT and AMZN executives taking over and overhauling things was such an absolute no brainer."

Really? Good for you for making money on this stock. Im guessing you started when it was already in the hole. I made a few K on this run but had no stomach to go all in because i along with other people who HAD faith in this company have been beaten down for years. I bought stock over the years, some at 13, dropped then I bought more at 9, dropped. then 5, dropped then 3, dropped. and then bought more at 1 to average down. Why on earth would someone who has been following for years have any belief that it was a no brainer it would turn around. The shorts were beating it into bankruptcy until they added AI to their press releases to capitalize on the AI bubble. Its easy to brag when your guess pays off, but you could have easily gone into a deep hole.
And im guessing youve probably had a few epic losses in the market before this big win. Thats how it usually works. Talk to a gambler and you only hear about the big wins...

Nah, I've just followed and invested in this company for a few years and it just made me very wealthy. This was inevitable, it's a shame all your negativity clouded your vision because you all could have joined in on this. Lumen with its incredible infrastructure at $1 with ex-MSFT and AMZN executives taking over and overhauling things was such an absolute no brainer. Sorry to all your bears and copper fools - it pays handsomely to be objective and have some foresight.

Gonna let yall in on a little secret. Used to work with PMO, in an adjacent role, during my time there.

95% of them had zero idea surrounding the products behind the projects they lead.

Instead, what they had, was the remarkable ability; to get some of the most privileged a-s white people, to do what they needed to do, all with words.

Y’all throw shade but PM life is actually hard af

Lumen had a bad quarter the only saving news is the expected revenue in one segment for fiber. Don’t let that Lumen cheerleader show distract to you from what was a bad quarter and people will still lose jobs in losing segments

"How funny. When Lumen is successful, you hear crickets."

Please "edumacate" all of us with these successes you mutter?? Must be that 10.9% YoY loss from last year with the "success" being it wasn't 15%??? All this celebrating of percieved successes (see MSN contract) is rather putrid...especially when you see what is going on behind the curtains!! 5B used to be a good quarter for us, now 5B over 20 years is a success. Brain washed shills w/ Participation Trophies in hand is all they bring in now.

How is Quantum Fiber a "gold star" example? Am I missing something about the reported numbers of locations turned up vs actual sales each quarter?

Quote from a previous post "Its not just project managers, you have too many analysts, and unnecessary supervisors and managers. They really don't do much. If anything, they get in the way and make things worse. " Not only that, it seems that following all of the processes and procedures is more important than actually doing the real work or solving a customers problem. Just to keep metrics up means doing several procedures every call or ticket one works. I have a new ailment for us, its called "Process Paralysis."

Not sure what you mean by pm ? The entire root of the problem is the totally inept effort to combine or not many
Back end networks .. which no one not even Kate will

Its not just project managers, you have too many analysts, and unnecessary supervisors and managers. They really don't do much. If anything, they get in the way and make things worse. Lots are DEI hires not qualified to work in their field. The lower level support and field techs do all the work. You have a nanny state too, micromanaging everyone underneath them and acting superior. DTL at its best. Dare and fail, cause they are not really leaders, they just read a book and follow others like mindless sheep.

They also should dr-g test all the HR people, just watch how they act on the meetings, something wrong there.

Ha yeah. You want to be a manager? Great! But sorry there's no pay increase.
AND you still have to do the work in your current role.
But this will look awesome on your resume! Especially since the stock is doing great and everyone loves us now!!

Dishing out titles to prevent running off to a new company is the Lumen ways. Lumen gives titles without any pay to go with it. Get the title and then run to greener pastures.
