Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

What do you despise most about Dell?

For me, it’s the deeply ingrained pattern of poor leadership across the organization. Every company has its issues—I’ve seen that firsthand—but this is on an entirely different level.

It’s not just a matter of inexperience or bad decisions. What’s most troubling is the combination of incompetence and a lack of integrity. I’ve personally witnessed Directors, VPs, and SVPs misrepresent employees, distort survey results, and take credit for work that isn’t theirs. There’s a consistent pattern of self-preservation at the expense of honesty and accountability.

Blame is routinely pushed downward, while failures at the leadership level go unaddressed. Instead of ownership, there’s deflection—and then a reset with the next initiative.

That’s what I find most frustrating: being subject to leadership that is not only ineffective, but often self-serving and

I despise that they lay off Americans and hire H1Bs to replace them.

I despise how they're pulling the wool over shareholders eyes with all these prospective AI sales that aren't even confirmed yet. It's all smoke and mirrors and will come crashing down when the jig is up.

For me it's knowing why the problem is and how to fix it, but being denied the tools and permissions to do so.

I think this quote sums up what I think fairly well:

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

Working at Dell feels like working at Sears Roebuck before it failed.

They did a little bit of everything but nothing well.

Less people; more AI. Right now, Dell is at 97000 people as of the latest 10-K. I think they will keep driving towards less people. I think once the AI gets the accuracy to wherever they want it to be(who knows), the floodgate on layoffs will have begun.

@ad Same but lets be honest here... NO company prioritizes employees before company profit. NONE.
If I owned a business and had say, 1000 employees, but the company is struggling or maybe didn't bring in enough revenue, unfortunately the first thing I'd be doing is letting folks go.

However with Dell, they are determined to get to 80-85k employees so it doesn't matter how great Dell does financially, they ARE going to keep destroying lives until that number is reached.

They dgaf about the people (employees) who generate the money. Last year was a 120+ BILLION dollar record breaking revenue for Dell and they squandered that all away and gave below inflation raises (inflation was only 2.4% btw,) a dogpoop bonus modifier, and as per usual, lack of promotions. My director told us it was a "tight budget" for raises this year. WHAT?! HOW?

Yet, they have the bawllz to send out memos "congratulating" all of us for our hard work and helping create a record breaking revenue year? All while giving managers pennies to give out for raises...

While also laying people off, and upping the prices in the cafeteria... WHAT?!

I don't think any company today is employee first.

Leadership at Dell has jumped the shark as Fonsie so eloquently said. Most should be fired immediately but will never happen. So much incompetence is unheard of.

It's a 4th tier company trying to gaslight its employees into thinking it's 2nd tier.
