Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Did you notice any signs before getting notified?

I'm wondering if there's a way to predict if you're on the list or not. Such as less work, avoidant manager, things like that.

I feel like some leaders are being tight lipped about some info. I found some stuff out through other management and my manager brushed it off.

Its virtually impossible to tell for sure, but some things I've seen leading up to a person getting canned (not necessarily a mass-layoff per se)

  • Boss is hard to get for 1:1 meetings, etc...they know, human behavior is kicking in, and they're avoiding you
  • A consistently meets/exceeds performer is all of a sudden given a cr-ppy review with scant evidence, or even a seemingly small thing like being late without notifying someone becoming the entire review...this is leadership creating a "case" for laying off an individual
  • Being placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), again with scant evidence of actually needing one...again, this is leadership creating a "case" for laying off an individual

@ad I can say the writing was on the wall, but it was not obvious. I was excluded from meetings work taken away. I am happy to be out. But to tell you I am not sour I would lie. But it is not too bad. I hope I will look backwards and laugh at the sit5.

Work trickled down to nothing. Boss's conference trip that was scheduled for March got cancelled. Nasty woman in my department who bullied everyone was allowed to run wild unchecked.
My boss and I were both cut and I saw it coming.
Glad to be free. Moving onward and upward!
