@wn Maybe I'm just in too niche of an OI team, but I don't have any clue what you're talking about with an SD rolling over OI because some OT team is already doing it. I think you're speaking way too broadly about OI, personally, but apparently my scope is limited if you're telling the truth.

I'm just thinking in the context of my role, it would make less than 0 sense to have another section of OI be working on something similar or identical. Literally 0 point to that, and I don't think it exists.

AI, I guess, but there are a lot of human elements of OI (mine included) that I can't fathom AI would handle in its' current state. If they want to try, god bless. Maybe I'm just in a super small corner in OI.

Idk about offshoring for OT, but for OI when I say on fumes, I literally mean the only few non-offshored devs left are basically doing all of the work.

Product is such a hodgepodge of cr-p it is about time something happened. This place is like molasses in january integrating acquisitions. Just another useless silo. Then we got the endless reindeer games of who is in charge which turns to actually nobody as the empire alliances form for all these useless directors and above. When something goes wrong in ops there is zero process and they act all surprised at oh I did not know that product acted like that. Or holy smokes the license that everything is built on for some technology is expiring and expensive so we need to get off it yesterday. Um does nayome left know how this legacy stuff works. He-l no. Now the latest disctraction of the useless hopping on the AI bus. Guess what if something goes to Ai you wont be on that bus they hired someone else to do that bye now

@vx There are thousands of "AI use cases" across Optum Tech (Optum AI) and hundreds approved for external use. Odds are whatever you're working on mimics at least one if not more of the things on that list. There's also probably a competing OI product that your project can get folded into.

OI didn't move fast enough. SD is going to roll over OI teams that are doing something similar to what an OT team is working on. Odds are OT is even more outsourced than your "running on fumes" crew.

@kx OI is huge, I wonder what parts? I'm in OI, and can't imagine them cutting my team any thinner. Development on the other hand has been almost entirely offshored already and is running on fumes.

@j0 yep, cutting deep. OI is toast 10/30

"Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord..." true believer bootlickers will finally see the light. Sad because the bureaucracy is slow as molasses but flying at 100X will make us crash and burn.

@fd that person isnt wrong.
Multiple layoffs coming from 10/30 and through 2026. Offshoring to cheaper countries.

Names are already submitted.

Its going to end up a skeleton crew in the US

@fa I took it that @cm is sp-t balling/brainstorming. Did not read that as him making claims to what is happening.

@cm Are you allowed to tell everyone that OA/OF/OI/OT is getting consolidated into one org called Optum AI? Duplicate functions like product, marketing, commercial, etc go away. Or does that "exciting announcement" come after the mass layoffs 10/30?

I feel the worst yet will be after 1/1. A lot of staffing is still in place with lots of hope we keep deals that are in the rocks or sign new deals by 12/31 that aren’t looking very likely.

@ad in an OT All Hands call in Aug they said no OT layoff rest of this year. Where is your intel coming from? Not saying it can’t be true, just contradicts what they were bold enough to announce.
