Thread regarding Texas Instruments Inc. layoffs

So, what’s the master plan?

Is there even one? I can’t see any vision behind these layoffs. It just feels like the same old story - more work for fewer people, with nothing else really changing

No magic formula for how much each group cut. Top down directive of numbers came and now they just have to make it work. Before they even have a master plan.

@ad they definitely don’t want new college grads. The return on that has been horrible.

The master plan which is already in motion is to move a lot of functions to India to save money.

We’ve seen it in several groups already where design/dv and operations have moved to India.

Im order to meet the new dividend increase from 3% to 4% on the stock, along with converting TXN into a growth stock similar to other chip makers. This is part of the orchestration performed by Elliot. Our CEO and VPs lack the ba--s to stand against them unlike Rich, and will likely receive a handsome bonus from this. Another reason I see is that they want to modernize TI in terms of the bew MBA vision of corporations for fortune 500 where we have faster ROIs and faster employee turnovers to burn through, as opposed to keeping the same people for so long.
