New employee here - how serious are implications for now being 8 hours? I hear the team say 6 hours minimum. Is that true ?

So serious that they’ve built multiple layers of tracking.
“ 8 hours is the bare minimum workday.”
… for your bathhouse attendant duties.
"8 hours is the bare minimum workday. All managers are expected to do more."
Actually, that is incorrect. Managers are expected to get the work done. Some days you can work 6 hours and get to where you need to be, and some days it take something closer to 10 hours to get the job completed. Managers were never hired to clock in/clock out.
I don't think anyone (although some I'm sure will) argue that working a "full" day is a reasonable expectation my issue is the whole where. Has anyone been told that they are not working a full day simply because they didn't badge into an office for 8 hours?
8 hours in the office? That’s too much. Maybe 3 with a lot of latte breaks.

"We badge in and out as we have to and NO the reports are far from accurate so we are hanging around 11-12 hours some days"...
F That...
@hh Exempt management is paid to get a job done, not work a certain amount of hours based on a number that Henry Ford came up with for Ford assembly line workers 100 years ago.
You and the other posters like you don’t get it. We aren’t paid to make x number of widgets a day and even if we were, that has nothing to do with hours.
This whole BS is about axing people without paying severance. Nothing more, nothing less. Well-run companies focus on productivity, not optics.
Well I guess if you don't work 8 hours and you're paid for 8 hours and you're expected to be there 8 hours and they're probably going to be pretty strict in other words regardless of what you think of the company or what people rah rah you on here just go to work and work your 8 hours stop trying to game the system
We badge in and out as we have to and NO the reports are far from accurate so we are hanging around 11-12 hours some days to make up for the report showing some days no hours and other days coming in an hour later than we actually came in and we have CSO DLP Forcepoint to prove inaccuracies which shows accurate hours. We also all keep an excel as even when we present them with data they do not correct the reporting. I would like to know what location the person is at who said their report is accurate. LIE
Make sure you understand how overtime works in your state. Manager with no direct reports should be getting paid OT after 40. Save your log for the lawsuit that is sire to come.
If you have less than 6 months I hear you can just do 4 hour days!!
Enjoy!
@a8 yeah..unfortunately they don't care about early calls or calls you take during your commute. They only care about butts in seats...8hrs.
We have to average at least 7hours a day in the office in my group. A single day below that is fine. They are looking at average in my team.
“Use PTO for home repair appointments.”
Go away slug!
“Or if I work 12 hours in office one day, I should be able to WFH the next while having repairs done to my home.”
Use PTO for home repair appointments.
This is so sad that exempt managers are dealing with this. I know there are FLSA lawsuits in progress.
If I work 12 hours in the office one day, I should be able to work 6 hours in the office the next day.
Or if I work 12 hours in office one day, I should be able to WFH the next while having repairs done to my home.
THIS IS UNETHICAL & karma will catch up with old Stanks.
The rule is 5x8 or terminate. 8 is the bare bones minimum.
If targeted for failing to meet in person collaboration requirements, your supervisor won't be able to save you.
Our boss had originally communicated a minimum of six hours and then recently backpedaled saying 8 or more hours needed.
“6 hours is okay if you are part time.”
&
“If you're getting paid for 8 hours work 8 hours.”
Hey m0r0ns, who on this forum is trying to justify working less than 8 hours? Go away slugs!
Do you badge out? I badge in and out and my report is fairly accurate.
"Do your 8, keep a spreadsheet and track your hours to the minute."
Also, check your syslog. It should be available to everyone. Just click on the up arrow on the bottom right corner of your screen. Then double click on the green icon. You will probably have to change the selection in the drop down menu of the popup screen, but it shows you when you logged on and logged off.

Take photos of your computer showing the date, time and that you are on the office network when you come in and just before you leave. Do it on your personal phone. The report always shorts you and this is at least one way to help prove you worked the proper hours. Yes it’s insane but that’s what this place is doing to us.
Presence report is not accurate and is cutting hours all the time.
It depends on the team our organization in Alpharetta still is mostly work from home and we just let go the people who were coming into the office.
#fcc and #doj coming for the masterminds behind this. Wont be long before they are brought to justice. Can’t target employees, divide them up and force hardships on one demographic to make room for another.
Do your 8, keep a spreadsheet and track your hours to the minute. Email yourself the spreadsheet weekly. My boss questioned my hours once and I whipped out that spreadsheet. I haven’t heard a peep about it since. My report is broken and shorts me hours all the time. They did fire 63 people in NEO for presence report violations, basically if your average was less than 4. The report is busted as has been noted and commented numerous times. I wouldn’t give this place a minute over 40 if you can.
My boss knows it chops randomly hours and to be safe stay at least ten. We are constantly covered and the report is fraudulent harassment but the leadership chain only care about themselves. Ten to twelve hours may lessen the nonsense from your yes man/ woman boss.
Sad but the truth.

Was not a d-mb question. I regularly take 5 am calls due to time zones. Not unreasonable to take them from home (2 to 3 hours) then work in the office (6 to 7 hours).
Wish common sense would rule the day again.
Depends on the organization. Ask your peers and boss.
Nobody knows and it really depends on your team.
