Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Where are you ?

Oracle’s strategy is firmly established from its earnings notice, with a clear commitment to continuing as a leader in the infrastructure space. The key upcoming changes include:

  • Expanding headcount in data centers and OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)
  • Doubling down on OCI initiatives
  • Phasing out legacy applications
  • Transforming select legacy apps into more modern solutions
To remain relevant, you will need to align yourself with one of these focus areas. Please be aware that there will be significant reductions in management and leadership roles in the near future. These cuts are expected to occur continuously over the next two years. Now would be a good time to start updating your resume. People who were laid off recently will struggle for a while but eventually settle in. So plan ahead.

I know a lot of OCI DCOPs people and none of them enjoying it and turnaround is insane, seen close to 90% of people replaced in some locations. So it's not that rosy in OCI either.

"Long-term Oracle employees are already significantly underpaid compared to new OCI hires."

@ac , OCI is in perpetual hire-and-fire mode; ignore long-term stability there.

With heavy debt mounting, Oracle's tough earnings promises have cornered them with shareholders. They must prove progress at any cost. Operational costs cannot be permanently fixed across the board. The only way Oracle generates cash is by eliminating underperformers and cutting legacy applications.

The restructuring is certain. November or January or next year, it doesn't matter. Focus on your interviews now.

Is an internal transfer to a focus area smart? Absolutely not. Long-term Oracle employees are already significantly underpaid compared to new OCI hires. You'll simply trade more work for little more than peanuts. No one can outperform in OCI. You are always in radar.
If you have friends in other company's just jump.

Increase headcount with people who can run data center or any ai related job , while laying off any customer support engineers or OLD skills…

That means will the rumored upcoming November OCI layoffs involve the managers or higher pay band employees?
If they want to increase the headcount, why are there continuous layoffs, even in OCI.
