I’ve been through plenty of layoffs, but this one is on another level. It’s straight butchery, cuts made on cost alone, no regard for people or loyalty. The way it’s been handled is cold, inconsiderate, and completely silent from the top. Worst part is, it’s clearly not done yet. I feel especially for the veterans who were discarded like broken equipment. This company has reached a whole new low.

@aq Shareholder value will go down when OCI projects start missing even more deadlines.
@am Even Sam Altman doesn't believe the BS coming out of his mouth.
The elites are showing their true colors, and the US public is the last thing on their
shortsighted midwit minds.
I actually think we're gearing up for some type of ww3 scenario.
@aq Wall Street seems unimpressed with cost cutting.

This is about shareholder value and nothing else. Didn't you learn this in Capitalism 101? Blows my mind that everyone complains about loyalty (or lack thereof).
@am According to some predictions, we (those of us who can still afford a car) should all have self driving cars by now. It was supposed to be imminent.
They cut my entire team, there's no one left to 'train' the AI to do our job. Doesn't matter how many GPU Larry has in his D/C, without the knowledge base to work from AI is pretty much useless for replacing employees.
@ac
If AI could do our jobs, we would all be unemployed.
Be careful what you wish for, it wont be long =)

" train the AI to replace you"
If AI could do our jobs, we would all be unemployed.
I heard remaining Oracle employees are being instructed to use AI to fill the gaps they now have due to the layoffs. Instead of training the h1b visa indians to replace you, train the AI to replace you! What an exciting future.
Some bean counter under Safra, made stupid decisions. AI will solve it, don't need the veterans. Don't forget, new software release == more money for support, since we push broken product as customers expect it. That's why they pay the mega-bucks and come the conference, just to make sure they know who has the patches to fix the broken mess.
