Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Constructive Dismissal

“Occurs when an employer makes an employee's working conditions so intolerable that the employee feels compelled to resign.” I’m a senior manager whose role was changed to essentially degrading admin work this year, through no fault of my own — politics rule in toxic workplaces. Anyone else hanging on by a thread with how they are being treated and hoping for a severance package by EOY?

@cg I’m in the same situation. I get no emails, my external relationships have been taken over by previous colleagues, and I’m really at a loss as to ‘why me’? Not sure if this is temporary or a permanent move to get me out, but it’s a real punch in the nuts for someone who likes to be productive. I’ll be leaving as soon as I can, because this place ain’t it. Hang in there.

And yet, they hate it when you quit. HR sat in on one of our staff meetings to update us on whatever it is they do, and the HR lady was commenting on how unprofessional certain people had been since they only gave 4 weeks notice before retiring. Meanwhile, I've seen people get laid off and walked out the door same day. Delusional entitlement.

@ap speaking of tone death. Miserable little troll.

Same here. I used to run projects for specific high volume client borrowings.
Now I upload a few documents a day to nCino. Recently I’ve went 4 days without a single email or IM, other than the generic all employee emails.

Happened to me. I left. People got promoted into half my role. This place is a circus.

And yes I had to train that person and give a roadmap. Like what? That person also was so unpleasant to begin with.

@OP What you’re going through sounds really cr-ppy. Yes, this place is extremely messed up. And yes I’m also hoping for a severance package or VSP, albeit for a different but similar demoralizing situation. An integrous person can only take so many lashings. Best to you.

@ap I promise you I make no where close to 200k. It might make this whole thing easier if I did though!

Poor me — a senior manager making $200K, stuck with minor tasks while cashing a fat check. That’s tone-deaf

@OP If you’re a high achiever, I can understand how this situation would be immensely difficult. Like the previous poster noted, I think a lot of excellent workers are getting lost in the shuffle. It probably has nothing to do with you and everything to do with leadership’s bad decisions and them looking out for their own selfish interests. There are other, better jobs out there. It will all work out.

"I feel like I’m being put on the outs by my leaders"
@ac Most definitely.

I feel like I’ve got lost in the shuffle recently. Maybe it’s just a temporary thing but I feel like I’m being put on the outs by my leaders. Just trying to get through a day at a time at this point.

A demotion (title, pay, work etc.) will show them what a pain in the a-s I could be.
