Norfolk Southern has laid off 200 employees and will transition to TCS. Just about everyone in my group will be gone. What crazy is TCS is not even listing our positions.

Norfolk southern outsourced a good chunk of IT through Tata Consulting to some remote employees in Mumbai. I was one of the developers let go as I mentioned on my now deleted post. And it appears that TCS is either curator of this website Or the owner of the site is member of the demographic I may have offended. Either way I don't care but just thought you guys should know if you thought this website was a good place to air your frustration with misplaced outsourcing and h1b issues. It appears that Indians are not just controlling work they now control discourse.
How are the MSP’s treating you?
Rebranding you to another company ensures that you train your replacement. Don’t fall for the game, you’ll be out as soon as they extract all your knowledge.
“TCS layoffs: India’s largest IT services exporter, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), on Sunday announced that it plans to lay off 2% of its workforce over the year. This decision to reduce its employee strength by around 12,000 will impact its global workforce”
This has been in the works for years … A slow layoff, so the company doesn’t have to take the blame and look bad. The plan took shape the day the new CIO was hired. They brought in a leader with ties to these companies and who has made a fortune doing the same in other industries. American companies are no longer run by Americans.
Who all is transitioning to the MSPs and how long before the MSPs bench the transitioned? Of course they make it sound like the best place on earth until you get there... Very sus
Every year American are victims and lose billions of dollar to the scammers. Now American IT employees will lose billions of dollar to the same country. Guess who is the new CIO?
What's going on in Bellevue the people we have in charge are idi-ts
Going through the process with TCS now, its a little scary but so far the people I have worked with at TCS seem to care and really want us to move over. We will see. All the best for those going through it, hope to see you on the other side.
@ez And don't forget it's not just Tata (TCS), NS is farming out almost all level 1 and level 2 support (for now) to 3 outsourcing MSPs in total. Given that NS is doing this to reduce cost by farming it all out to India, I don't see many, if any, current NS'rs will get hired by the MSPs. I think it's just lip service.
There’s no telling on the real number unless you’re NS management. The real number will come out after 12/31. That’s when all released employees have already switched over to TCS, and employees won’t get hired by TCS or don’t want to work for them will be gone.
From what ac said, I have a feeling only 70-80 people will get hired by TCS.
CSX dismissed 125 Management employees yesterday, most at the Jacksonville headquarters.
Watch for a bad QT report
Just saying
@ac and yours is a bit misleading as well. Those "options" are not guaranteed...it's more of an opportunity to interview for a job. Something that exists irregardless of the situation. And which number are you sighting - the people that were immediately fired, the ones given the "opportunity" to interview with the consultants before getting fired, or the people that are asked to train their replacements before they are fired?
Incorrect info, very misleading as less than 70 or 80 people are impacted and they will have options to take on new roles with vendors and internally on new projects.
