They’ll bring in a CEO who has a track record of divestments and buyouts and sell off everything except for Hess acreage

Gawd MN would be a disaster!!! No one is ready which is why MW is still around. And no one is still ready. If we don’t go outside then this is the end of cvx

Chevron can make more money by investing in Bit Coin than petroleum. They can take the cash/stock they have buy crypto and mine crypto in the data centers we rent. The margins on energy production are not as high as the tech world, we cannot compete on wall street.

"Stay Focused", that is hilarious!
Who can focus on work when they are worried about losing their jobs.
You must be a HR puppet or an AI bot....

I like this statement, the "perceived success of Engine", you have been at chevron to learn success at Chevron is not about facts it is only about perception.
The perception depends upon who will need to have the perception to be a success. Since MW will retire, he does not need to carry the torch so who is next inline to brag about the ENGINE cost savings.
Most of the people in the Engine that I have worked with are MSP's covering for the future ENGINE staff. The ones I have talked to are just average people but they are cheaper. The MSP's show success for all their deliverables in the management meetings but the SNOW tickets are all downgraded so they can meet the contract SLO's. So if the cost is lower and the MSP's can show all green radio buttons then I guess it was a success.

Engine is a joke and so are these MSPs.

Hess layoffs will be independent of whatever else is already going on.

The new org has been designed for continuous mini-layoffs. If you have a fluff role right…. I’d be careful and pivot to a value driving role. Engine and GBS are now stood up and looks to me they’re set up to start gobbling up jobs in the next few years. Also, the business plan outlook will tell you the years the business needs to deliver….by any means.

@bp can you share more details? I’m not referring to ones in 2025. I’m interested in any planned for 2026.

Be prepared for it at anytime. I suspect there will be ongoing rolling layoffs. This is the just the start.

@cn agree we should be ready/expect at any time. I just they keep the same terms for severance for future layoffs.

The next layoff is going to happen in a month to two. We are still in it and rumors are that many of our groups are getting gutted completely.

Hess will be resolved one way or the other in the near term, which will trigger a frantic reassessment of this layoff round, but not much change in the timeline or result is expected. The next major reorganization is expected to occur in 2-3 years, when significant areas in the Permian are de-booked, we withdraw completely from Africa, and MW declares that we have moved beyond petroleum (because we cannot find any). Our new focus becomes industrial robotics designed in India, with parts sourced from China, and "Make in America" placards glued on by Trump-Tesla USA inc.

@a5 yes let’s listen to MW, you are right.

I suspect MW retires later this year after the Hess deal closes. A lot will depend on who replaces him and the perceived success of Engine. Based on the current trajectory (and common sense), Engine will likely be a colossal failure.

This will continue into the end of 2026. This year is only phase one. Look at what was said in every town hall.

What triggers the next reorg? MWs bank account.

Asking about the next layoff while the current layoff isn’t even done yet! MW & MN have told you to stay focused and you’re already looking ahead. This is why we won’t win.
