Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Could they have ballsed this up any more?

Can you picture a more colossal clusterf*** of a layoff process?

  1. Announced way too early
  2. Town hall after town hall with no new info
  3. Tone deaf leaders extolling the virtues of the abomination being built in the third world to disappear your jobs
  4. A disaster of a selection tool
  5. Cut now, plan the new org (and figure out how to make a salad after amputating your arms and legs) later
  6. Announce selections with incorrect job titles and without naming the team and individual is joining

We love paying consultants. Surely there was one that could show us how to sack people properly? Myriad strategic blunders, symptomatic of an utterly failed leadership

@a1 THIS! Also, seen people not allowed to EOI and got psg and pay reductions. They said it wouldn’t happen…but here we are.

@OP I just saw a post on the Chevron Jobsite for an Emergency Response Manager in India. Guess what local people here in Trump country want out of an ERM…someone local and who can build relationships. Can’t wait for local and state government to lose their sh-t when they talk to someone in India. I know and work with these people…it won’t go over well. Some are already pi---d at the ERM’s that have lost already lost their jobs. If Chevron doesn’t think this will backfire on them they are sorely mistaken.

The company has paid McKen well over a half billion for this steaming pile.

The lack of information and confusion is planned because Chevron can defend the employment lawsuits easier. Less documentation the better for Chevron attorneys....

@ac good people are also bailing because this company is no longer one the are proud to work for.

May I add… People who have never ever relied on the layoff.com are coming to it daily for their information since the company is not sharing information with us that we need in order to plan our paths forward with our families and continue with our lives. So many good people are bailing on the company because they don’t know if they’re going to have jobs. How does that truly help Chevron when dedicated people that know the business are leaving to save themselves.

I remember listening to a couple of leaders talk in the coffee area back in 2021. They were describing the same cluster fu-k that occurred in 2020. They pretty much said this is done on purpose because in the chaos the idea is that the best way to proceed will emerge.

I just about sp-t out my coffee.

Yes, it's truly a magnificent hit straight to the testes of Chevron. Well done leadership, it's good we still have that top tier project execution ability.

Can I add

  1. People who wanted to leave, not being given the option of an EOI
  2. Dedicated people who wanted to stay, being given the flick
