Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Mental strain

I don’t even know how to explain how it feels. One minute, everything’s fine, and then suddenly you’re told you’re being laid off, just like that. It’s not just about losing the job—it’s everything that comes with it. It’s the feeling of being thrown away after all the time and energy you put into the company. I’ve spent years working hard, and now I feel like none of it mattered. Every day I wake up with this constant dread, not knowing how to move forward or how to tell my family. I can’t stop thinking about the uncertainty. I feel completely lost. My confidence is gone, and it’s hard to even get out of bed in the morning. It’s not just me either—I see the same thing happening to my coworkers. We all feel like we’ve been blindsided, and it’s destroying us, mentally and emotionally. It’s draining.

@fk The WARN notice has already come out and federal law says it requires a 60 day notice. I believe it says if you're not in a transition role your last day is July 17th.

Not everyone will be allowed to participate in the PDC.
There have been people that were told there is no position for them at Chevron in the new org.
Watch the WARN Act notification for Texas around June 1st. A large amount of people will have there last day during the week of June 16th.

Don't know why people here are so invalidating of people expressing feelings. It's how many of us feel.
Could be fake but also could be very real and it's very valid.
Hold in there OP, get out and go where you are valued cos it isn't Corporate America.

@d4 sure did spend some time posting your reply. Ask yourself why it struck home enough to get to you.

Without going into details, I've been through this. Laid off with no warning and good performance history. Yes, it's traumatic. Yes, it's life-changing. If you're really feeling that despondent, please get professional help. I remember they told us in outplacement, 'the time to feel sorry for yourself is over, now it's time to work on getting that next job'. You have to channel that sorrow and anger into a positive energy, channel all your ability to work hard into working hard to find the next job. No, this is not an HR posting. I lived it and came out of it in a much better professional position than before my layoff. I remember being disgusted at the tripe they gave us at exit about 'one door closing and another opening', but if you work at it you can make it into something better, a fresh start, a recharge of your career. Hang in there.

Hug your kids. Hug your spouse. Go to sleep. All will be fine.
