Attrition from Stonehouse, UK

high potential people have given their notice to leave schlumberger. poor management structure with no turnover at local senior management levels. incompetent people and expats running the show on paper and nothing happening on the ground. fake promise of payrise. batteries production moving to china while for many years they keep saying this will not happen. no strategy or vision just lies

SLB destroyed innovative cultures at:

Cameron
Camco
Smith
Peak Well Systems

Whatever they touch, gets rotten...

SLB has only survived by the acquisition of other companies, it lacks skill and innovation to create and design any engineering products for itself.
Weighed down by a huge number of useless managers who have little or no understanding of the industry but go along with the tick box culture in order to climb up the greasy pole of promotion.
Many companies with good engineering products that were taken over by SLB have now been totally destroyed by this toxic culture, Camco being a typical example but there are many others too.
Now with much more focus being on clean energy and away from fossil fuels slb needs to innovate and diversify into renewables to survive long term, otherwise the slow decline that is obvious to many will intensify and more job losses will result as the inept and out of touch directors try and protect the balance sheet to satisfy the short term investors.

Warehouse manager lost his job last year only to be given to another ex-manager who was promoted for his skills of stealing projects and presenting as his own.
New payraise being given out in September payroll is available to 40% of the staff. Remaining 60 can quit and leave more money available to be given out to the other 40.

SHTC is unique to SLB. No manager was cut in my very many years. The funny thing they were fired after transfer out. Though the functions are very overlapping it seems global SLB retains this alma house. All locals lost the relative market value and just wait for retirement. There is no leadership and bulling is the only method the managers trying to hold on. Temporary though

Progression plan for us shopfloor staff is nearly impossible to achieve. We were not consulted for this. It is done as a tickbox exercise like everything else here. HR and managers got their PIPs for rolling this out and we got nothing from it.

Long gone are the days of using the good salary as a reason to stay, or just being mates with your supervisors that will race you up through those levels.
4-5 years, maybe longer without a increase has left the lower paid members of staff so far behind and other good company’s catch up or even overtake with salary.
A progression program that’s near enough impossible to achieve crushes morale, and even if you manage to tick all the boxes and actually move forward with it, exemptions have to be requested and it’s like the managers are paying your minimal increase out there own pocket.
Do all the overtime offered tho as according to a previous manager, that’s the way to double your salary, but that precious overtime can be taken away at a click of a finger when the business needs require, then all those hours you done will be used in a PowerPoint slide when the next downturn happens, claiming it’s a negative for the business ‘in these tough times’

Stonehouse joins the notorious club of worst Slb locations. Fmpc was previously the only member of this club of bad leadership team.

But we’ve all survived another downturn and works picked up so we’re all at the front of the que to March in that office and demand more money right????

to plug this rising attrition the company has decided to throw some money to their mates. however what they do not realise is this is too little and too late. if anyone from upper management really cares and they are reading this then you should look into talent management skills. Stonehouse leadership team do not understand this term and is slowly decimating the place. I repeat - get better at TALENT MANAGEMENT before you have no one left to boss around

"Just think about mental impact this can create on person who is mentioned.".... You forgot to mention the effects on the mental state of the staff... Spoken like a leader who says '. go!', whereas a true leader says 'let's go! 'You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

complete lack of transparency in everything we do. payrise, battery production, people moves, flexible working, manufacturing

what background do you need in supply chain? Just enough skills to go around and upsetting people
what background do you need in manufacturing? Just enough good talking and bullying skills
turnover at management layer is very low. people are not moving until retirement. no new vision or energy.

Supply chain manager prime example of incompetence. As with queen bee from
SBT, how he’s survived through the endless redundancy processes is comical.
But as per par for the course at stonehouse, if you talk a good game, the sky is the limit.

No future for SHTC, inept and useless managers rule here, if you have any marketable skills leave now.
This location has been in a steady decline for many years now, no vision, no rewards for people trying to do a decent days work, hampered by overbearing useless managers who would find it almost impossible to get a job elsewhere, just clinging on in hope they reach their retirement. Some have not moved on this location for 10-15 years especially in the engineering and sustaining departments.
Failure to address the long standing issue of poor management, low moral and dwindling headcount will hasten the demise of SHTC. This together with a failure to diversify into renewable energy technology and away from fossil fuels guarantees there is no long term future left for this location.

what is lowest manager effectiveness scores at Stonehouse?

Stonehouse managers take the definition of coasting to another level.

In other companies, coasting = work I-3 hr / day.

Stonehouse manager coasting = We will not let anyone work so we dont have to work.

a place is as good as it's managers. stonehouse has mediocre managers who are going to stay put till their retirement and marinate in their mediocracy. no respect for high potential people who all have now put down their notice. resignation en-masse.
