most countries in EMEA need a month AT THE VERY LEAST before any sort of decisions on headcount can be made. considering that we got informed of consultations with works councils starting just LAST WEEK that doesn't complete the timeframe. stop spreading lies and misinformation and clearly LABEL YOUR POSTS (US / EMEA).

@ay Verizon appealed, didn't they?
Current Standing: As of March 2026, the High Court orders in favor of Jean-Philippe Charpentier remain stayed pending the outcome of Verizon's application to appeal.The
Dispute: The case centers on whether Verizon must fund costs for the European Works Council (EWC), including legal and expert fees.
Costs Awarded: The High Court awarded Mr. Charpentier 90% of his costs, though this order is also subject to the stay during the appeal process.
@a9 Charpentier case was finished in November last year. This won't take as long
@ac Unfortunately, you’re incorrect. US is NOT SAFE. There will absolutely be more layoffs in the US within the next few months.
@ad dunno. maybe if the EWC consultations drag on. The Hatchet Man needs to present massive OPEX cuts before Q2 ends, otherwise they risk the Wall Street becoming impatient because they didn't hit their targets (free cashflow to finance the stock buyback, etc.). I'm sure there will be more cuts in the US to consolidate the merger with Frontier. They need their fiber and customers, not the employees
@a9 so you think they will start offering mutual agreements to specific employees soon?
@ab no it’s not US is ok for now
This applies to US as well. Wait for those notifications.
@OP who appointed you The Layoff Commander in Chief? People will post whatever rumors they are hearing, this is a sounding board for layoff after all.
That wasn't an official notification by any means and actual consultantions with EWC started a couple of months ago. The EWC directive update and the Charpentier case are prolonging the process.
That pathetic EMEA AHC had no legal effect.
That month you are talking about is for Verizon legal/HR to notify local labour offices AFTER the consultation phase with EWC concluded.
Obviously, nothing is stopping HR from offering employment termination agreements (i.e. mutual) to targeted employees to bypass the EWC stalemate. If the deal looks decent, I would consider consulting an employment lawyer before signing
