Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Curious where folks usually end up after being laid off from Target?

Trying to figure out what to do and what to focus on. Thank you.

@px Agreed! I feel bad for those at TGT who I call the "veterans" and have been there right out of college; some nearing 20 years! What are you supposed to put on a resume then?!!

I am no longer at TGT Corp. but I had a previous life prior (several lives) so hopefully this helps me in the long run. Goes to show you; one can get too comfy in one company, stay too long, and then get dumped. So much for loyalty.

@bx what company said that? Can’t really take it off my resume when it’s all I’ve ever done.

In my experience, Target on my resume was actually a liability. Specifically at a major health care system in the metro area. I was counseled not to share I came from Target when meeting new partners. There’s a reputation and not a good one.

@ab Yikes. Thanks for sharing your personal experience. I've heard long ago from long-timers that TGT on your resume is game-changing but apparently not so much anymore maybe?

Speaking of: I don't remember where I read this (or who told me this) but is there any truth to Brian C. making a joking remark (in poor taste) about being laid off but at least you have TGT on your resume; or something to that effect?

Hopefully you’ve been able to build some good connections or have a solid network to lean on. Honestly, Target just isn’t what it used to be anymore. Saying you’ve worked there doesn’t seem to carry the same weight it once did. Even a year or two ago, people would ‘ooh and ahh’ when they heard you worked at Target. I’ve been job hunting ever since they started forcing remote workers out in my area back in April. I’ve had several interviews within my field, but one company actually told me they liked my work but wanted someone with experience outside of Target. That felt like such a slap in the face after all the years and experience I’ve built there
