Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Magical layoffs. They exist only if they’re mentioned.

I mean… it’s beyond ridiculous that leadership refuses to acknowledge layoffs that have happened, are happening, and will keep happening until who knows when. The gaslighting is unreal, and so is the complete lack of the most basic requirement of leadership - owning up to actions and their consequences for the people you lead.

The thing mentioned even less is the focal, or lack of it.

In 2023 my org got an email stating no focal. This year the focal hasn't been mentioned at all.

Thank you for your service and I guess you should just be grateful you have a job, even though the compensation is eroded every year.

@ab I believe that was pioneered by Jack Welsh at GE.

Consulting firms also have a "grow or die" policy. If you are not promoted you are terminated.

It could be worse, remember how Mark Zuckerberg laid off 5% of their workforce and said it was to "move out low-performers faster"
