@1xj Really? Because they are certainly a big part of it. Interesting that on this board, you all complain about the "old timers" and the agents. The people who were the heart of this great company for 4 generations or more on top of the industry. Now that it's yours, you think the company su-ks. But of course, it has absolutely nothing to do with you.

You have no idea what micromanaging is. Go work for HCL, you will get a very large dose of micromanagement.

Accountability isn't for everyone? How stupid of you to say that. The employees did not get SF in this mess. But they are going to put the sc--ws to the employees. Let me repeat that. THE EMPLOYEES DID NOT CREATE THIS MESS.

Full disclosure I am not an agent. I have been an employee for 38 years. There are customers that never interact with an agent. Sometimes that is their choice-they want SF product, SF financial stability and sometimes SF claims service, especially if they live in a CAT prone area and are perfectly fine with no personal relationship. If customers want a relationship with an agent and cannot get one ,shame on the agent and they will likely leave sooner than later.

If you ask a customer to name someone at SF, unless they have a relative or neighbor with SF they always name an agent. In fact they sometimes name the agent, not SF, when asked who they are insured with.

Would some choose a rate reduction to change from an agent to a call center? Yes, but the number would be smaller than you would expect and predominately be insurance savvy and technology sufficient individuals.

The answer to how long will SF have agents is-as long as customers want them and see value. That burden rests solely with every agent.

@t8 2 out of 3 correct. Sorry, this is gonna be long. The average insured does not care about the agent they have never met or spoken with. If you told them their rates would drop 10%, for example addressing your point anout cheaper rates, they would be fine dealing with a call center to speak with another person they have never met. Besides, the push in claims is self service. We actively coach to get insds to do as much as possibele themselves ie... set up their own car rental, pick a select service shop, enroll in automated text messages and electronic payments as a cost saving measure. Once underwriting gets their house in order and we can offload 10k more employees the only meat left on the bone will be agents (not forgetting executive, but let's be real, they will just use expense savings to justify increasing their bonuses). After we drop to #3 ( it is a fait d'aclompie that we already dropped to #2, the speech writers are drafting Farneys spin on how this is a good thing and part of the master) the only place left to turn to is agents. Once untouchable but now a huge liabiluty and expense keeping our rates way more than the new #1 P&C world champion, Progressive.

@hz Every policy holder who wants to can show up at the annual meeting.
Here’s a shocker. They don’t care about you and your issues. They want affordable rates. They want their claim paid. And they want somebody (in their agent’s office) to answer the phone when they call.

@sr+1jz6z17t7 I proved my point by your answer. Ignore the facts and be sheep? I'll pass and be a leader pointing out truth.

@sa You sure waste a lot of time worrying about what other people are doing. And making up your own little version of it.

The SF Board needs more backbone… or better yet as a mutual company thinking the policyholders could request a leadership confidence vote at the next board meeting and determine who they want to stay and/or go…

I would like to hold our executives accountable. The dismal performance of the company over the last decade begs the question, why have they not all been fired? I failed to meet my performance expectations every year for a decade; I would have been fired a long time ago.
