Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Rate of Change

When will ELT and Sr Leaders slow down the type and quantity of change they are shoving down our throats?! I understand that change is required in any organization, but for fcks sake give us a change to digest these changes and understand them before you dump more on us!

Change fatigue is real, and is the main reason I want to leave but probably won't because of the amount of $$ I have wrapped up in my LP. Plus, I don't want the tax hit from having to sell it if I leave and work for a competing firm.

But seriously... just fckng leave us alone for a hot minute.

@aa It’s a return of principal and not a taxable event. Only your distributions are taxed at your normal income rate.

@am Agree. I've lost track of how many times they have lied to our faces and insulted our intelligence. They think they are being slick, but everyone sees through it now except for the die hard kool aid drinkers. Even if the next LP offer seems too good to be true, many will balk at it because we have ZERO TRUST at this point. They (penny, ELT, GPs, etc) have shot all their credibility with continuous lies and betraying everyone that works here. Good job id--ts, there was more than enough "pie" to go around and you couldn't stand sharing it. Instead, you took the whole god damn thing for yourselves and managed to drop it all over the kitchen floor. Bafoons!

You wouldn't be taxed on the amount invested in your LP. You are only taxed. on the earning distributions.

@OP , I liquidated my LP and am working for another financial firm. It happens and it may be unpreventable for some.

I don't trust the firm anymore so I left.

@OP Would there be a taxable gain on LPs? Aren’t you taxed on the earnings each year as you receive them? I was under the impression that selling your LP would just be a return of the original principal and shouldn’t be a taxable event?

Sorry, best we can do is more outsourcing, more system failures, and extra micro management with RTO.
