Badge Swipes

Does anyone know whether badge swipes are actually being tracked and if they are to what extent?

I’m not trying to call anyone out, and I certainly won’t be naming names, but it’s getting increasingly difficult to justify coming into the office five days a week when the building feels emptier by the day.

The communication around RTO has been incredibly vague. Other than the dry a$$ generic email that went out in January, there hasn’t been much clarity on expectations, enforcement, or how compliance is being measured.

If badge swipes aren’t being tracked, what exactly is the point of complying and coming in?

@10e sounds like they are just keeping quiet about everything still. Assuming it’s actually true about the tracking; i would love to know how they are and what are they doing with the data. I am starting to feel like the su---r for going in while people just continue to WFH. I know people have different work arrangements, but judging from week 1 until now, people are simply not going in.

Agree with the lack of communication around RTO specifically of who was going back when. I went back May 4 for wave one. My manager is on wave two. Make that make sense!!!! all questions were avoided, and any emotions were ignored. Such a disappointment.

I kid you not, I went into the ladies room last week and all the stalls were filled. I had to wait to use the bathroom. I have irritable bowel syndrome and sometimes I get diarrhea during the day. This was one of those times. I can’t believe I’m posting this, but this is the reality of what happens when you cram too many people in the building every day. I almost had an accident in my pants. We need more bathrooms in the buildings to accommodate all of us.

It’s sincerely hurts me to say this but how they have handled this return to office has created a hostile working environment. As far as two PNC, employees are just too close to each other and with people being on conference calls all day it’s definitely affecting employees quality of work. We are not in grade school and we ALL know how to work alongside our colleagues, but when you start cramming us in like sardines next to each other, you are going to have problems. So many floors are a mess.

It’s really painful for me to say this because I actually enjoyed coming into the office when it was a couple days a week because it gave me flexibility but also because you had more open seating as we were not all coming in the same day. Just wait until the winter comes and everyone gets sick. With all of us sitting on top of each other basically, if one person gets sick more than likely, the whole floor will get it. I can’t afford to get ill due to my existing health conditions. I do everything I can to prevent getting the flu by getting my flu shot and going to my doctor for regular check ups, but you can only do so much when you’re surrounded by people in such a close proximity together.

@d6 I get that, but what is the point of complying if there are no repercussions. I don’t agree with RTO and I actually hate it, we’ve all proven we can be productive and have had “record breaking quarters and years” while WFH. I only go in because of the unknown on what could happen if I don’t comply. Why bother making an effort to come in if nothing is going to happen if I just WFH still.

Badge swipes have always been tracked. Badge swipes are not a metric to justify production. Delivered results are. And we delivered more results while remote than at any other time. RTO is being used as an excuse to justify the real estate investments.

From what I'm told, they've always tracked badge swipes, and I do believe it as it was said by a regional director or someone higher up than me.

I'm not bank side, and my bosses say they're not being tracked, but I've never believed that.

There are definitely people with HR exemptions, but I've noticed that HR is actively working to give accommodations vs exemptions.

Different areas of the business can choose whether they are remote or in office; it comes down to your Line of Business. Our leader isn't going against Big Bill, so here we are.

I'm a manager, so I have to be in 5 days a week unless I work out flexibility with my boss. I've used that a few times for Dr appointments but I've really tried not to abuse it so the company doesn't take that away.

@ak not picking on you or anything, but some people do have medical exemptions. They would’ve contacted human resources and had paperwork filled out by their doctor and sent over to PNC. If it’s approved, the only people that need to know are human resources and your manager. So what I’m saying is just because someone isn’t coming in all five days, don’t assume they’re just not coming in because they don’t want to. It could be due to a medical exemption where they only come in two or three days a week. But on the other hand, I’m sure some people just aren’t coming in all five days. I’m pretty sure that they would be tracking how often people are coming into the office.

There’s literally zero energy on enforcing this charade, and those of us complying start to look like the chumps. I do hope there’s a change in this attitude from the top. Good people have left and continue to leave, and all over an unenforced “rule” that they didn’t have to heed after all? Tragic.

@ak this is where I am at. I know there are people who should be going in and simply don’t. It’s frustrating and annoying, but at the same time, I don’t care. We are all adults responsible for ourselves.

Knowing now that they are definitely tracking, I don’t want to end up on some list. It’s tempting to stay home just because but not anymore.

Its been a month, and it has gotten worse. If this second wave doesnt get people in, then what? I am not in favor with going in, but why do some go in and some dont. I dont want harm for anyone, theres just no rules. Some managers push, some dont. Just frustrating

There is RTO and unfair treatment. Some organizations remain virtual while others are forced to go into the office 5 days a week.

@a9 good to know they are tracking, thanks for confirming. I’ll continue to comply…it’ll be interesting to see what things look like once June 15th rolls around. As much as I want to say fu*k it and stay home, the market is trash and I need my job. Hoping things eventually change and go back to hybrid, but I am not holding my breath

I know they are for sure but no idea how it’s being used yet. I work in Technology so can verify the data exists. Not everyone has come back yet, and there are also many facilities (again in tech hubs) where there is no space and people are not required to be in office.
