Unbelievable. There's a very real chance I might not survive the next round of layoffs.
It feels like the only reason I'm still here is because they see me as 'cheap' labor.
I watched long-time coworkers — people who dedicated 10, 20, even more years to this company — get let go overnight.

Unfortunately, it is believable.
The whole org is about victim bullying and bullsh-t
When OpenText closes a Core Signature deal, the customer signs the Ordering Document using DocuSign. I guess do as I say, not as I do. There are a lot of good people at OpenText and a lot of good products with potential. OpenText needs a new leader who can motivate the employees. It’s breakfast time at OpenText and time to eat Wheaties not time to fast. Focus on the long term not quick wins.
Let's be honest how can chatbot replace someone who is working on complex problems?
This is just re--rded idea. If AI does not stand for "Actualy Indian" it does not make any sense as they let go experienced automation engineers. And then you get cheap bandage in form of unexperienced people who do not know how to commit or investigate issue or even file defect.
@bg+1jssf15fh It's not the lack of knowledge, it's the lack of resources.
Been begging for 2 years. Probably lucked out I didn't automate our entire department.
“AI first mindset” ???? OpenText has no AI!!!! It’s just talk, their aviators are years behind anything else in the market, any demo they do it’s a mock-up.
If you are in North America, then educate yourself on the OpenText AI and Automation tools. Then find a contact in IT (Shannon Bell’s org) and see if you can pilot some new things. If you get involved with OpenText Trust OpenText projects, you will not be let go. Yes, manual work will be done in low cost centers, but the company is yearning for internal use cases to use as examples to sell their products. I agree they let a lot of AI and Automation people go, but I think there is still a $3k annual allowance to take education courses. Use that to learn about AI and Automation. It may not always work out, but the other option is to do the same thing and hope not to be laid off in another round.
@aa+1jssf15fh They laid off our AI and automation teams. Now all automated work will vanish and will be done manually. 20 new hires in India can do work, but they are not familiar with the process and there is no automation to protect the process.
Start looking because your severance pay won’t last until you get a new position.
Ramblings of a company man who has no clue on what goes into delivering production ready software. Parroting a narrative that will used to defend missed financial targets and incompetence
The company is run by spreadsheets and mind numbing compliance rigor.
If your objective as a manager or individual contributor is to automate yourself (or team) out of a job, you will have a job at OpenText (until there are no employees). I know that sounds counter intuitive, but it’s the way the company maximizes profit along with creative marketing spin. OpenText has given up on innovation a long time ago and after the MicroFocus acquisition the company has put the brakes on acquisitions. The focus on AI and Automation is to make the internal working of the company more efficient while getting use cases and testimonials in order to sell their products.
If you still think OpenText is an information management company, then you should look to work elsewhere.
It’s now a AI-first mindset, and if you think overstep the bounds of common sense or humans come first, you should work elsewhere.
Don’t send a human to do a machine’s job.
Those were the words of OpenText CEO Mark Barrenechea, as he welcomed delegates to OpenText World, where enterprise leaders were invited to “take flight” with AI and experience how it can “elevate human potential”.
So automate yourself out of a job to keep getting new jobs and promotions at OpenText.
