Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Years…

It would take years to replace international manufacturing in the US, plus there are no workers here for those jobs.

You think US employers are going to pay US wages for that work… ?

Clearly not when we’re all continuing to outsource globally.

fdt.. mo--ns

And if your response includes Biden or Harris… move on. They lost. Can’t blame it them anymore.

@aj, this is NOT Reagan conservatism. This is reactionary isolation. Supply chains and work force skill are totally different now than in the former gilded age. We do not have the infrastructure for onshoring low skilled manufacturing.

This will cause massive inflation of all kinds of goods across the US economy, decimate the stockmarket and future shareholder returns, and make life notably HARDER and more expensive for the knowledge/service workers, which is most of us.

@ay is happy, "having a good laugh"
@ax is laughing hilariously. That's great, so no problem with tariffs, economy, market etc. Sweet. I'm glad everyone's all good now and feeling great and over it.
I knew you guys would acquire some common sense eventually and realize that the country can't run on other people's borrowed money forever.
Whew! Had me scared for a moment there I thought some of you were going to jump off a bridge or something!

My "I hate America, I hate everything Trump, blah blah blah" leftist posts are not popular with people working at an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company and visiting their part of a layoff site, so therefore, there must be a conspiracy or something. OK sure.

Tariffs are good for America and American industry.

You have to think about the long term impact. The stock market will take a dip. Good. Capital will get reallocated as the market corrects to more American-based industrialization. Prices will go up. Yes. For a period of time everything that is imported will cost more. But wages will finally go up commensurately as more goods are manufactured onshore.
Prior to 1913, the government was funded by tariffs. Now we have the central bank federal reserve (not federal, has no reserves) and the income tax. What that has gotten us is multiple world wars. It’s time we look after domestic interests. That means treating other countries the way they treat us.

@aa+1jr0rpzz6
read the Republican tax plan in the senate.
States $5 trillion in tax cuts offset by raising the debt limit by $5 Trillion.
It does not look like Trump is planning to stop increasing the debt limit, he is planning to offset the tax cuts with more debt borrowing.
That is NOT the Republican party I voted for....

DJT is the most hated person in the world, according to a new survey. Its MAGA against the world. That should turn out well.

Yeah, let’s do nothing and just let it all eventually fail anyway….who cares as long as I’m living in my nice house and enjoying all my toys. Forget the future generation that’s going to have to pay for it all. I really enjoy having my taxes go to other countries to help them out.

We need kameltoe hairy to rescue us. She would have had us no longer in debt by the Trillions and all the wars would have stopped and from the magic American money and energy trees we would keep on supplying the world with everything, and never hurt anyone's fee-fees, like ever. And we would have a constant supply of people to pick the cotton and cut the grass cheap.
So much winning to be had with that solution!

Who knew electing a deranged, felonious, psychopath would lead to economic disaster?
Maybe you should ask the ones who voted for Joe Biden and created this economic disaster of a train wreck that led to this for the answers, not us.
