Has anybody heard of how NetSuite might be affected by all of this?

@kw It already is happening in Mexico today/tomorrow - see other threads. DBAs replaced by AI automation. NetSuite is next week. Industry wide layoffs are happening. AI will and should reduce the headcount required - that is the message from the top and demanded by shareholders to justify spending on compute. It is not good enough yet, we all agree I think, but as those who survive are forced to use it and train it will become good enough and in essence we are training AI to make ourselves redundant. Good enough is not AGI. Basic automating of boiler plate work nullifies requirement for many jobs. Reality is AI is reducing barrier to entry. Even those in low cost centers will be replaced by tokens. Might be this year, 3, 5 but number of jobs in this field will reduce drastically. See the future being for those with the 0.001 percentage of folks who are genuinely geniuses. I hope I am wrong on this. Very wrong - that would make me very happy.
They should do it soon. Everywhere these layoff talks are going on at work and people just want to tip the bandaid soon.
@k2 April RIF spreadsheet comment below is accurate - it will be next week in NA. Also from M4-5 level - Cali - this is just the start, AI will fill in the gap for the RIF - first of many this year as they try to right size. These executives are also skeptical but it is the mandate from above to follow the industry. 2026 one he-l of a year and I mean he-l.
@j1 how do you know? Have lists been created?
Next week with garden leave of two weeks. No details on severance and health insurance timeline. Su-ks working in NA, need EU employee rights.
@fe 🤦
@a9 Way to go AJ.
There will be RIFS in every GBU including NetSuite. Incompetent VPs and Directors who do nothing will survive. Many competent ICs will be gone due to stack ranking. Tiny percentage of those laid off are actually low performers or are not required to change of product direction - say 5 percent. AI is here so everyone who survives should produce 2-3x.
This is from the Netsuite layoffs page:
Gary W has been set aside, so there will definitely be reorgs in the product org. Not sure if the lists will be changed? I’m assuming all of the employees who were rated “needs improvement”, will be laid off
However, based on what’s going on in the Oracle thread, it sounds like layoffs (after the low performers are done) are performance agnostic after that.
This happened last year. A lot of good people were laid off
Guess Netsuite is rif’ing April now?
It’s crazy - this ai stuff better be worth it
On an AVP forecast right now and they accidentally flashed a spreadsheet titled “April RIF”
