Layoffs happen all the time. It’s per usual and a majority of companies have layoffs throughout the year as jobs go offshore.

There has been a lot of people being fired, laid off, quitting for the last 7-8 months. On average just the ones I've got access to see, it's no less that 4-10 or more most weekdays.
It's not good but it's almost normal at this point.
That said, 1/29 and 1/30 were pretty brutal.
