What the he-l does a desk su-king pencil pushing cunsultant with an MBA know about actual work offshore.
of course, its gonna be BS advice on the lines of cutting costs and losing knowledge, human capital and providing short term BS shareholder returns. Unsustainable.
These consultants have no skin in the game and I dont know why we hire them.
There are management consultants and technical consultants. How can technical consultants get work completed when bp is in perpetual Teams meetings?
@cq
Having been on both side of the fence, can put hands on heart and say the consultants did some sh-t work!
Theory looks good but practically it wouldn’t work and they don’t care about that as by the time things start failing they are out.
They then come back with solutions to fix the problem they created in the first place and the vicious cycle continues. That is the consulting operating model and how they stay in business.
I’m surprised our executives still employee consultants! It should just be banned…
@bv always easy to blame consultants on bp staff incompetence. Take some pride in your work then maybe complain about external professional consuktants. Whining and pathetic.
I think I heard the company might have to change how we report earnings results if we go back to an upstream/downstream structure. And that’s why we have been hesitant to make that change. Is that right? Could anyone explain?
The McKinley derived operating model has been a disaster. I’m surprised up / down wasn’t reinstated with the reset in February. Will the chairman finally grasp the issue now?
@a9 that can't come quick enough. 2 totally different businesses ruined by an attempt by a consultant to find anyway to cut headcount... I speak to DLs that after 5yrs still don't understand how production ops works and they are responsible for the how. I could have got another masters in engineering in that time....
Returning to upstream and downstream units would be a good start
