Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

All Colleague Townhall

Their fragile egos just refuse to take any accountability. Of course culture and morale are high when they don't have to answer to anyone (the board of directors asleep at the wheel), don't have to worry about being laid off, and collect fat bonus and merit increases no matter what. Don't accept their relentless gaslighting and keep speaking up on their lack of leadership and poor performance.

@ab The RTO report is counting 11 days badging into the office in a month. I'm a manager I have access to my team's report and the criteria that is used to hit 100%.

They don't care about and won't give you credit for PTO/Holidays or anything else. They have no way to track that in their RTO reporting, the systems are a joke and disconnected. They have no way of tracking how long you were in the office in the RTO report. They have no way of tracking which days of the week on the RTO report. 90 seconds on a Sunday - poof 1 day of RTO. 11 hours on a Thursday, poof 1 day of RTO.

Counting to 11 isn't that hard.

November is a nightmare with only 18 available workdays (17 for those taking off Black Friday).

Look up the companies that own Zelle, all larger banks. We’re in bed with one another and we will not call one another out for “unethical behavior”. We will make a deal to aquire/merge knowing full well that neither party is ethical. This will happen with a bank smaller than us where the executives seek a golden parachute to make the deal happen. It’s coming, watch.

@10m Reading this site would give them plenty of ideas. When you put yourself forward as the ethical big bank, you better be ethical.

@108

How would another bank target us for unethical behavior?

@fm "It's basically over for her. "

As long as the stock continues to increase she will remain. They could replace every single employee with AI or outsourcing and it does not matter. A CEO can do absolutely anything they want, no matter how horrible, as long as the stock goes up. Now if another bank were to target US Bank's unethical behavior and internal problems and call us out, and it damaged our brand and then damaged our stock, that might get her and the MC out. Or it could just change our brand.

This is how public companies work. We have many examples of it today.

If you have been here long enough to have seen Richard Davis, she looked like she was running a small family bank where she was given the job because she was the daughter, compared to that.

@fm She made is very clear on the call that she wants to do a merger/acquisition. Once the deal goes through she’ll leave with a fat bag 💰. She’s out of here in a year.

I appreciated the kinder approach on this town hall.

I’m all for transparency in RTO reporting. Honestly those that can’t track it themselves are the same people that have a hard time meeting goals. It’s not that hard. We’re a bank, employees are responsible to grow the business. If you can’t track your days yourself my guess is you’re not growing the business either. It’s basic goals.

It's basically over for her. She blew it right out the gate with that first call.

Unfortunately though might be another year before they just her for her inability to effectively lead.

Worst all employee town hall joke on Halloween when employees already dislike you greatly? “I wanted to wear my witch’s hat but I was advised to not do it” = I know you guys think I’m evil so I will acknowledge it passive-aggressively because I can and because you’re my peasants. 🧙‍♀️ 🎃

Not trying to start anything here, I know the RTO topic has been beaten to death. But it’s been almost a year and we’ve had multiple forums, and we’re still basically hearing the same generic answers. It just kind of feels like there isn’t a real plan and things are being figured out on the fly.

That is what’s concerning because RTO is just one small part of the bigger picture. We’re one of the largest banks in the country, so you’d hope there would be a clear direction. 2026 is going to su-k.

@br Life before Covid is what we're advocating for. Back when decisions would be made based on what made sense for a given position.

It's this new culture that lacks a real result focused work ethic, common sense, and frankly, honesty. I miss the old USB where leadership was honorable.

@br Yep. I worked remotely for several years before COVID. I was hired specifically for a remote role. Now I have to RTO. Your failure of a point is no surprise for someone of very low intellect, which is obviously what you are.

@br maybe it would be a better use of your time to go look through some of the other discussion that make a lot of good points about pre-COVID remote and hybrid work (they existed and were far more flexible). And about the company culture before GK.

@a9 the very same people are the ones who are mo--ns & go sit in the seat you reserved (I kick them out of it even if they're in a meeting or something) at the hubs. How hard is it to tick-off days on a list & reserve a chair for yourself.

Hate to see how some of these people live at home, must be a pig sty.

@a5 I refuse to be 100% negative. I appreciated their more kind approach. Even if to reach their level it requires being a sociopathic monster (widely documented), they can act. I will take them at their word that for now there will be no mass layoff & they're hearing the concerns.

They talked about some of the major key points we've been complaining about: advancement, pay, employment anxiety; but generally offered little specific or impactful solution to any specific item. This means even if they didn't give us an answer we want - they ARE listening whether we like that they are or not. I think it's a good thing that they are hearing us.

To me this means continue working & it's going to be status-quo soon. Do my RTO, list my accomplishments, & get my money. Of course if they sc--w us over on raise & bonus I'm jumping off the boat & swimming to another one.

@as There are no opportunity outside of a hub. If you want a promotion, pack up your wife and kids, move to a hub. Gunjan said it, another guy said it. It was not blunt but it was not subtle.

They never did say why the chief ethics officer was asked to leave, just the explanation that they were doing it differently now, probably have to hide their DEI and other silly outreach and discrimination from the Fed, the OCC, the FDIC, the General Sarevices Administration and the roster of state attorney generals offices

Man, they never even talked about layoffs or moving stuff offshore. They’re talkin’ about those 2,500 “new jobs” inside. like, what, call center gigs? Meanwhile they’re shippin’ all the dev work overseas and tryin’ to sugarcoat it with some other BS topic. This town hall was a total waste of time, just a bunch of clueless talk to cover up their own mess.

@ab that's fair and a perspective I can get on board with. I really do try for 11 days a month (reasonably) so I don't worry about it too much I guess.

Post ID: @ac+1k8xge8ce

@a9 It’s less about tracking your own days and more about transparency. There is already a disconnect about what counts (Holidays and PTO in the week, 3x days per week vs 11 days per month), and keeping that knowledge sectioned off and unauditable by employees is not good policy, especially if it’s a goal that we’re all given.

That call was a whole lot of nothing. Wasted an hour. Such chickens these "executives" who can't own up to anything nor provide a straight answer to any of the questions. Disappointing performance - Needs Improvement.

@a6 I'm going to get down voted a ton for this but it's really not that hard to keep a tracker of your days.

I hate RTO with my entire being but like, keeping track of your days is not complicated

Just when I thought I couldn’t hate this place more than I already do! Clueless or just don’t care? I’d probably have more respect if she just stated the facts upfront and reasonable arguments why (if there even are any) instead of saying how sympathetic she is to how people feel. Disingenuous! Can’t wait to see this same sentiment at merit time.

@a3 the question about RTO tracker and if employees can have access..

"We will consider it but most ppl know how much time they are in office"

IS NOT AN ANSWER. Why are you gatekeeping the numbers???? Just get ba--s and say what your doing, own up to it, and then maybe wed respect you.

anyone else notice that gunjan and the rest specifically went IN on their tones and really attempted to come off as "nice" "Kind" "Customer Service softness etc" it was all just so transparent. Clearly theyve gotten feedback or they read these posts.

GK and the MC are uninspiring and lack any substance, just spewing prewritten talking points. No, there is not excitement, no, people are not engaged and yes, RTO has been a disaster. Bad building location choices, not caring about employees spending 2 or 3 hours commuting, dated disgusting buildings, workspaces that are noisy and equal to a call center. The company under GK does not care about employees. Stop gaslighting.
