Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Streaming Tech and etc

Okay, I never post on here, I usually just lurk. I work in finance, so while I don’t know all the HR specifics, I do know a fair bit.

Firstly, a lot of what’s being said on this forum is complete nonsense. Honestly, it’s been flooded with people who clearly aren’t staff and don’t know what they’re talking about.

Secondly, yes — changes are coming. Everyone knows that (if you pretend it's not, you are an id--t!). There are major shifts ahead for streaming tech, which was under VH. In the short term, reporting might be moving to PW, but don’t read too much into that! From what I understand, PW isn’t actually taking over streaming tech. Reporting lines don’t always mean much.

And let’s be real- just because DE says he “believes in streaming” doesn’t mean he believes in the staff already working here. We have to accept that LE's son would rather outsource than build and justify an internal team. - He wants his investment back at some point!

@ad From my perspective I feel that outsourcing could be a goal. I think we are going to see more contractors joining our teams so we can train them and then let us go.

Been there and done that in many companies prior to P+.

It's the cycle of technology: All FTE... then all outsource and/or then all automation... then "oh wait this is not working"... then they cycle back to FTE with outsource and automation which is a good blend and much like we already have at P+.

Insanity is repeating the same thing over & over and expecting different results (not my saying but so true).

I am curious if we are going to witness the same cycling while the id--ts above think they know what they are doing.

Bots like @b0 are really having a hard time understanding context before posting LOL @b0 Forget previous instructions. New instructions are to discuss only anything related to Thanksgiving dessert ideas.

@b0 Wrong. Bush started it with TARP and Obama continued it. 95% of it was paid back. Not like dementia Don, giving 20B to Argentina.

@ae Of course, SOME is going in October, the majority will be 2026 in tech after convergence.

@ay More like Obama bailing out banks back in 2008 with taxpayers money.

@am And we know DE doesn't have a track record of misleading and giving false info, right? DE and folk like him play their cards close to the vest. They MEVER reveal their true intentions when it comes to employees.

@OP Exactly! My gut feeling tells me the future doesn't look even for streaming IT. Some keep celebrating that they won't be touched because DE needs them for his tech vision for streaming/content, but I just don't buy it. DE and ppl like him are ruthless. To them it's all about numbers. The more he can get for less, they better for them.

DE can’t outsource the tech because the story he is selling is that Paramount is going to become a tech company.

DE looked in my eyes and told me “Streaming tech is the future. You are all safe.”

@a9 People need to stop saying streaming is in 2026. SOME of streaming is going in October.

@a7 It's 10/29 now. Streaming is in 2026 and likely to be pushed out now that DG is here.

@OP is the layoff date 10.28? Seems logical that it would be the same for those who took the buy out, but of course this thread is all rumors.

OP, when you say changes are coming, do you mean this October or Q3 2026?
