Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I was a fool!

I was laid off, and I regret that I worked so hard at my job. I had a good performance rating and never expected this outcome. I worked in fusion tech support, where I cared deeply about my customers and the quality of my work, even putting in time on weekends. I was okay with not receiving a raise in exchange for job stability, but that’s not the case anymore.

While no one owes you anything in life, I realize there is no point in doing more than what is necessary for this company. I’m glad I didn’t waste a decade on this! Aging tech, awfully management, no raise, you wont progress there. I was a foul to have stayed 4 years!!!!

@b0 Same here. It was more than 6 years ago now that this happened to me. On a call with HR and the entire team (including manager). Oracle was a fantastic company to work for in late 90s /early 2000s and I don’t regret any of it, except perhaps the last year. When you’re outside you realise no one talks about Oracle in the tech space any more. I have worked with hundreds of customers since and none are investing in Oracle. There is a big, exciting world out there and companies that are way better to work for (that give regular pay rises).

28 years here, same story. Nothing but good reviews the whole time. Job market is horrible, not even considering tech ageism; who is hiring mid-fifties engineers with Oracle-centric knowledge.

@fq
@fq you are lucky who got laid off within 2 years because it's not worth working for a company which has no values..
It's an exploitation center rather than a global company. I m 200% sure you will find much better job where you will be treated well and enjoy working rather than working for this cheap company...
Wish you all the best

I got laid off after 2 years, and that was kind of surprising for me because I was in the middle of an important project.
In my opinion Oracle did me a favor as I thought I had job stability here.

I also got laid off on Sept 3rd morning after 10 yrs but very happy that I was released with severance package and my RSUs will be vested this week. Otherwise I was not able to take anymore their exploitation and humiliation even after getting 5 rating all years. I was planning to quite as management and working environment was getting worse every day 🤫
Now already have few good jobs offers with 40% salary hike and less stressful work 😍

Remember that no company is your "family", They can and will RIF you at the drop of a hat.

Was at Oracle for 20+ years, thought I'd be there 'til retirement, RIFd for no apparent reason .
