Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Your performance rating doesn't matter.

Given that the lay off selection didn't consider a person's performance rating, how on earth does Oracle think they can motivate the employees who remain ?

Well, apart from maintaining a culture of fear and simply telling them that "youre lucky you still have a job".

Thank you for your service .... sorry, no focal again.

Help America and call this tip line to crack down on H1B fraud and help deport H1Bs while Americans are being laid off

The DOJ has a tip line for reporting H-1B abuse: https://www.uscis.gov/scams-fraud-and-misconduct/report-fraud/combating-fraud-and-abuse-in-the-h-1b-visa-program https://www.uscis.gov/node/70591

@a4 - no sign of focal, bonuses, or RSUs this year. Normally the planning would have already happened back in late July/early August. This lack was the biggest clue that something bad was coming.

@ae yep. I would expect anyone left when this is over, will receive sizable bonuses and a healthy dose of RSUs. September is typically review season so the timing here makes sense. It’s unfortunate so many 5 rated employees were let go however, but they will land somewhere else probably making more in the long run.

@a4 That's happened after the "hardware" lay off in 2017. The bonuses were small, but as some would say, it was better than nothing.

@a9 there's a lot of what you described at a lot of companies, I think the real real way is to form join a union.

they're going to lay us all off eventually anyways, what have we got to lose?

maintaining a culture of fear and simply telling them that "youre lucky you still have a job".

Educate yourself on "malignant narcissists". You work for one of the most notorious malignant narcissists on the planet. They motivate "underlings" through fear and by
pitting everyone against each other. They simply don't give a rat's a$$ about what is going on in anyone else's head. They enjoy watching the back stabbing going on beneath them. It amuses them. Whether or not you are self-motivated means d*ck to them.

The only fix is to show some self-restpect/backbone and leave.

@a6 Depends on your local employment legislation. Those regions with the weakest labor laws appeared to get hit the worst.

Anyway, hope for the best and plan for the worst. Backup important files and don't be reliant on your next paycheck.

it means if you want to protect your interest you're going to have to form a union

if you want to keep your work from home, if you don't want to have these capricious layoffs because of stupid management, you're going to have to form and join a union
