Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

5/1 was a bad day

So sorry for those people who were let go last Thursday. I have survivors guilt for not being impacted by RIFs but knowing several people who were that I’ve worked with for years. Seen this happen here and at other companies I’ve worked for in past. It’s the downside of the world of major corporations you learn to be numb to. Does not mean it gets easier. Of course this happened after latest employee survey. During the last town hall they celebrated someone who retired after 50+ years of service. Too bad associates just RIFd with 30, 40 years of service not provided same recognition. Just shoved out the door with a non heart felt thanks for your contributions.

what department or what was your job title if you were riffed. That would be more helpful to know. Only bad news we've heard recently was the RTO for managers and directors.

seniority puts a bulls eye on you because it means you cost the company more than someone fresh out of college or fresh off the boat.

I was also impacted by may 1 RIF. Worked at company 10+ years and then ur on a call with manager and HR in SHOCK. I wonder how they pick who goes because it’s sure not based on seniority. Praying something better comes along and good luck to everyone else it affected .

I was a 5/1 RIF. I am truly in a state of shock. I am hopeful for the future, but so hurt by what has happened.

@b4+1jtb6k5k8...this is not to patronize you in anyway. I just want to take a moment and acknowledge your pain and frustration. I also found the post by @OP+1jtb6k5k8 off-putting. My hope is that people on LOA getting any type of medical care who were riffed will be able to continue with their treatment uninterrupted by these very unfortunate set of circumstances. This is just a sad reminder as to where the state of our union is at this time. But more importantly, it's also a reminder that we are our brother and sister keepers!

WTF is wrong with you! You must be upper leadership or HR

Lives were ruined and some people on LOA getting treatment for cancer! So you STFU! Hope it’s not your family next!
